This Semiconductor Stock Could Be at the Center of the Artificial Intelligence Spending Boom
Micron is in a prime position to benefit from the increasing demand for high-bandwidth memory. The artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure boom continues to march forward, and if the recent decision by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM +2.12%) to significantly increase its capital expenditure (capex) budget is any indication, we're still in the early innings. Perhaps no company is at more risk of overbuilding than TSMC, because if it builds a bunch of fabs (chip manufacturing plants) that become underutilized down the road, it's going to crush its gross margins and lead to a bunch of unprofitable facilities.

The UN on Thursday issued a call for widespread financial reform as the most powerful way to shift global markets towards realising a better world, for people and the planet. For every dollar invested in protecting nature, 30 dollars are spent on destroying it – that’s the central finding of the State of Finance for Nature 2026 report, which calls for a major policy shift towards scaling up solutions that help the natural world – and support the economy at the same time.

If geopolitics had a thermometer, the mercury would have dropped by a couple of degrees over the last 48 hours. At the start of the week, European leaders were outraged to be facing increased tariffs—again—from their trading partner and ally, the U.S., if they did not comply with demands from the White House for the purchase of Greenland. A framework of a deal has now supposedly been agreed upon between the White House and NATO, which would step up U.S.

An experimental treatment uses specialized neurons derived from stem cells to "soak up" triggers of pain and inflammation in the arthritic knees of mice. This lab-mouse experiment suggests the therapy could potentially help with chronic pain in people, caused by conditions like osteoarthritis, for example. The hope is that the "pain sponge" could enable patients to stop relying on opioid medications for pain relief, the researchers say.
