ADF has fought for a long time to keep their donors secret.

This is an organization with a $200M/year that has been behind the most consequential issues of our time - they bragged that it was their scheme that got Roe v Wade overturned. And yet they escape scrutiny, over and over again.

No one should cover this case without also noting the involvement of ADF, which has made up cases before with fake plaintiffs. ADF folks are embedded in our government now. Mike Johnson worked for ADF. And in 2020, it was the head of ADF who wrote the major suit Trump filed to overturn the election.

The popular outcry about this fire ensures that local and national media will continue to cover it. That's important too.

Obviously we don't want journalism-by-mob. But we have all learned in the last decade that popular interest (artificially enhanced or not) is what makes a story 'newsworthy'.
capitolhunters.bsky.social
It is wrong to say definitively that the fire was arson. It is not wrong to flag it as a concern and a newsworthy story, and to raise questions given the death threats the judge has been getting.

Luckily this era will be temporary since AI firms are bleeding resources right now offering free compute time for generating nostalgic videos. That can't go on forever.

FBI WFO was the main investigator of Jan 6. They produce the evidence that Jan 6 prosecutors used. The only residual Jan 6 investigation continuing is at WFO. The leader of WFO reports to the FBI Deputy Director, not the AG.

There was never a Special Prosecutor appointed for Jan 6 in particular.

Because that accomplishes what? Sorry, events of today are too critical for anyone to indulge their feelings if it is not useful. Ask: what is productive for me to do, now.

The list of people who failed America is longer than that. Sitting and crying about it doesn't solve any problems.
capitolhunters.bsky.social
Is it the DOJ who investigates the primary evidence to "root out criminals"? Let's keep going down this path.

Everyone is angry. But the way to win is to be smart and to fight smart, and that takes work. Yes, people failed us - a lot of people. So now we have to do the work.

You're the one publicly criticizing and I'm asking whether you have enough information to know who to criticize.
capitolhunters.bsky.social
Still waiting for your answer to the question of who is it who would provide the evidence to bring those necessary charges - their job title and the name of the person who held that role in 2021.
capitolhunters.bsky.social
Go on, name that person: their job title and who held that job in 2021.
capitolhunters.bsky.social
And who is it who provides the evidence needed to bring those charges?
capitolhunters.bsky.social
You are criticizing others for lack of effort but you don't even know who D'Antuono is.
capitolhunters.bsky.social
Anyone who criticizes Garland and not D'Antuono has no idea what was going on with the Jan 6 investigation.

This is unfair - Biden had a sharper sense of the danger and the anti-Democratic forces at work than the press did. It is incorrect to say that Biden "chose to put us in this position". You can argue that Biden miscalculated, but he knew the danger and feared it and believed America was at risk.

Just a lot of really dodgy stuff around Ellis in 2021. It prompted a whole investigation by the DoD Inspector General. Here's the 35-page OIG report about him that was released on Oct. 21. AFAIK no one's ever explained why Trump wanted him at NSC for 2 days. 2/ media.defense.gov/2021/Oct/21/...
capitolhunters.bsky.social
Don't forget that in 2021 Michael Ellis, as Deputy Director at NSC, took a classified document 2 days after Jan 6 and refused to return it til compelled to. Trump then insisted on installing him as General Counsel for the NSA for 2 days, with no explanation why. 1/

"The only remedy" is loaded language.

Looks like they're doing a good job.

You can of course wear black in everyday life to reflect your feelings.

Anyone coming to a protest is making an effort to change the world, to do something. So they should be strategic and ensure their actions are helpful to their stated cause. And wearing black then doesn't help.

Honestly a British media outlet with European owners and a strong US presence is not a bad choice for this story.

Rebecca Jackson covers the South for The Economist, seems like a fine choice to do this.

In a normal world it's not responsible to talk about unproven allegations. The online chatter about this event reflects a loss of trust in media to properly investigate a potentially serious event. And a desire to try force media to report on it by making it a story.
