Agree with this. We need to work to put Texas in play.

Zero effort by this fool in explaining how actually cutting off Ukraine from all support serves any U.S. interest?

How does the U.S. benefit from Ukraine losing more quickly?

Keeping Russia “off our backs” for a longer period of time is actually quite useful.

Native Americans (among others) would beg to differ.

But the U.S. has improved over time, especially after it became a great power, with the rate of improvement increasing as it embraced an idealistic vision of itself and its foreign policy.

All the stuff the fascists hate, basically.

Jensen Huang is just gaslighting people in an attempt to convince the U.S. to let him sell the advanced chips that China needs to get in the race.

Their heart is in the right place, but I think that piece needed a little more edge to it, lol.

Seriously though, it’s time for the pitchforks.

AI can be a tremendous benefit to humanity, but we will need to grab it by the horns and wrastle it to the ground first.

This seems like the kind of political story that tells itself

Is he really ready to fight Europe while he also fights Ukraine?

Is he so certain Trump could keep the U.S. out of such a war? Is he so certain the opposition won’t topple Trump if he tries?

My little Vova is so very, very ambitious with his Lada army and $2.5t economy.

People shouldn’t forget this -

This dude is an idiot. The biggest problem with the peace proposal was the attempt to railroad Ukraine into accepting it as presented.

That attempt at coercion is unacceptable, and Ukraine needs assurances that its backers will continue to support it

The “horrified reaction” helped accomplish that

I tend to agree with Offit.

MAGA doesn’t believe anything anymore unless they can see it themselves.

But is that really true? Trump has weaponized misinformation and told people that he is the only one they can trust.

That worked. They usually did trust him.

On vaccines they trusted RFK Jr more

It’s a crap deal.

It’s not as bad as it sounded over the weekend, but it’s pretty bad.

Russia controls most of Donetsk, so giving up the rest doesn’t seem terrible, and Russia would withdraw from a few places it holds in other parts of Ukraine.

But it’s much worse than the headline.

Supporters of Israel need to work to replace Netanyahu and his right wing government next year.

It seems likely that major efforts to come to a final agreement will begin in 2029, if not sooner.

Israel’s long term interests will be badly compromised by a government unwilling to make peace.
November 18, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Here are current examples. A year ago $4 off $20 was $3 off $15. Same percentage decrease, but on worse terms and with higher underlying prices.

The equivalent $1 off coupons a year ago purchased those items for $1.

So spend $5 get a $3 sandwich for $1. Now it’s $3.50 and $2.50 after discount.
November 10, 2025 at 5:38 AM
Also I am not sure how they treat semi-permanent promotions which are still just promotions.

Current example at Wendy’s that includes the wreckage of previous promotions. ie Biggie Bag and 444 promotions.

444 means 4 items for $4 and the biggie bag was a $5 upsell 2 years ago.

If this is the deal it appears to set up Dems to shut the government down again (potentially repeatedly) after the holidays, with carve outs for Congress, the VA, FDA, and DOA.

If this is what they do it will reset the clock and we can try to roll into another shutdown Jan 31.
November 9, 2025 at 11:19 PM
To the extent this is the deal it seems like an interesting idea.

A few agencies get funded in a way so that they are not impacted by future shutdowns.

But most of the government can be shutdown again after the holidays.

Real wages are adjusted by CPI, but CPI is a broader measure of inflation than that experienced by poor people, whose budgets are dominated by food and housing.

It’s a short article. I think increasing market power is a major issue. But I also think that GDP is understated in many ways.

This was one of their ideas.

But I think our privileged position in the dollar based trading system also tends to make GDP be understated relative to resource consumption
November 3, 2025 at 8:33 PM
That our net national wealth is growing is good. We are getting richer (or some subset of us are anyways).

But GDP isn’t keeping up, and I think this imbalance is both a symptom of deeper problems as discussed in Ryan’s thread, but also begins to create knock on effects for everyone who isn’t rich.

Mmm, this is all good advice for Dems 😈
