The Sex Pistols appeared at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall #OTD 1976, inspiring the city's punk scene. Most sources say only about 40 attended, though many more later claimed to have been there. Audience included Peter Hook, Bernard Sumner and Steven Morrissey.
