Not so much a U Turn as a bleedin', screechin' handbrake turn. Who, I say, who would vote for these clowns.
Farage is ditching the manifesto platform he was elected on...

Politico on Reform ripping up their economic policies: "Out the window are pricey pledges like increasing the personal allowance to £20,000, raising the higher-rate threshold and scrapping inheritance tax on estates worth less than £2m"

The realisation that I am a human being as capable of making bad decisions as the next person is sobering. My mood is black, the future is bleak and life seems pointless to me now. In the end I was weak, it was too much for me, so I succumbed to temptation and thoroughly enjoyed my Ikea hot dogs.

History doesn’t always repeat, but it often hums the same tune. I’ve been thinking about how quickly a democracy can slide when fear, apathy, and ambition line up just right. A short thread ↓

The White House hasn’t faced destruction since 1812, when the British did the honours. Fair enough, c’est la guerre.
This time, no redcoats — just red hats.
History’s sense of irony remains impeccable.
No kings.
Watching part of the White House come
down feels like watching a piece of our
story disappear. The East Wing has always
stood for service, grace, and possibility
things no one can demolish. You can tear
down walls, but you can’t erase history.

The same crowd that shrieked ‘Out of the EU! British laws! British sovereignty!’ are now fuming because British justice actually got served today. Turns out ‘taking back control’ really meant ‘only if the verdict goes our way.’

This could be scene from Dad's Army, right? Corporal Lowe marching back and forth along the beach head, valiantly and single handedly protecting the good citizens of Great Yarmouth from the occupants of a small dinghy. God help us if these twits ever get so much as a sniff of power.
Independent MP Rupert Lowe has admitted mistaking a charity rowing crew for “illegal migrants”

An endorsement from @KemiBadenoch? Now that's a kiss of death if ever there was one.
Four days to launch and here's an endorsement from @KemiBadenoch, who faces many of the same challenges Mrs T did in 1975, as you will see from the book!

I'm just worried about growing lactating breasts and a third testicle. I'm too old for this kind of nonsense.
The U.S. and Britain announced a trade deal last week that will create a $5 billion export opportunity for U.S. beef and other products in Britain. But British consumers remain skeptical of U.S. food production, recoiling from the thought of hormone-treated beef or chlorine-washed chicken.

Are there parallels to be drawn between Trump's ICE and Hitler's Brownshirts. This organisation was formally known as the Sturmabteilung (SA), were the Nazi Party's paramilitary wing, responsible for protecting party leaders, intimidating political opponents, and disrupting their meetings?

True—you kicked out King George III, then wrote a Constitution so you could elect a new one every four years. Only now, your 'non-king' comes with nukes, a throne-shaped desk, and an annual State of the Union address that sounds suspiciously like a royal proclamation.
Reminder for those who seem to have forgotten: We don’t have kings in America. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/george-washington-would-have-thrown

Reform UK wants Proportional Representation (PR) for UK elections. Sounds democratic, right? But here's the twist: their own internal structure is anything but democratic. Let’s unpack the hypocrisy. 👇

I’ll hop right to it

I like A.O.C. a lot, but she's mistaken when she suggests that Trump should look in the mirror. Completely pointless, of course, because everyone knows that the devil doesn't have a reflection.

That has to be the most nauseating speech that I have ever heard and delivered by a criminal who has defiled the office of president of the United States. I had a hunch that Trump would bring up Manifest Destiny and he didn't disappoint.

I've just caught up with bbcqt and concluded, amongst other things, that Nadine Dorries, is not qualified to be on this show. There, that's it, I've said it.

I came across this on my morning bike ride. it makes my blood boil. I just fail to understand the mentality of those who dump rubbish. Fly tippers have absolutely no respect for our countryside. Does this happen in your country?
