Agreed. The top speed of a YAK-52 is about 300 kph (175 mph). Older models of Shahed drones could be caught, but I'm quite sure the latest models exceed that.

Not to be picky, but it looks like this burned, or possibly exploded, but it did not detonate.

Detonations are explosions which spread faster than the speed of sound.

It was not a war crime. The United States is not at war.

They weren't. Under full load, the red colored lower hull is completely submerged.

Sinking an oil tanker when full creates a devastating environment disaster.
November 29, 2025 at 9:42 PM
The environmental damage is not all that severe. Ukraine hit both tankers while they were empty (note that the line marking the full load is well above the waterline).

The oil fires you see are the ships' fuel burning. Bad, but not all that bad.

Were there other soldiers helping him get in that armored capsule? Or was that guy far from his lines and entirely on his own?

Lev looks good in fatigues.

The suit is hideous.

They left the ship be and hit the pier, the loading facility. It's better to take out the facility than just one ship. No ship, of any type, is going to be loading anything from the pier anytime soon.

The big circle route was used to avoid getting close to the warship.

I would be confused too. On the bad side, Russian firefighters are getting a heck of a lot of practice putting out oil fires.

Apparently not.

I'm not sure we can get rid of Trump. He intends to become a dictator for life - like Putin, Orban, Lukashenko and Saddam Hussein did.

I have 9 friends in the U4U program. I didn't sponsor any of them, but I tutor them in conversational English. Already three of them have left the U. S.

Cruelty is not a strong enough word. Their homes have all been bombed. There is nothing left to go home to. And they have pre-school children.

I big "if" unfortunately.

I have hope, however.
July 24, 2025 at 4:26 AM
I suspect you have this correct. The fuze failed to detect the drone because of it's size and radar cross section. Maybe it wasn't a metal drone?
July 18, 2025 at 5:09 PM
2.5 meters away. Good comment, however.

I agree, Amy S. Forgive (if and when forgiveness is requested) but never forget.

Russians forgot how much they suffered under communist dictators. Then they elected a new one. Game over for them.

Now the U.S. has forgotten our horrific fight against Fascists. We elected a new one.

Never forget.

I have no doubt that the battle of Kursk will always be the largest tank battle. At least in the number of tanks involved. Today's tanks are soooo much more deadly that not nearly so many are needed.

Besides, ground warfare has progressed to drones now.
June 23, 2025 at 4:26 AM
If Ukraine is planning this, it's not a great idea to post an explanation here.

I kind of hope they are, however. I bet that submarine is far less protected than the Kerch bridge is.
June 9, 2025 at 11:16 PM
I hope they aren't dead. I have a connection to one of those soldiers.
May 25, 2025 at 11:42 PM
I don't believe it is possible to effectively harden drones against this type of attack without making them one heck of a lot more expensive.
May 22, 2025 at 11:13 PM
I think it just got re-decorated.
May 14, 2025 at 4:19 AM
Yup. The tank had been abandoned. That's why the hatch was left open.
May 5, 2025 at 4:41 AM
A cluster munition was used. Perhaps they knew that their location information was not all that accurate.
April 18, 2025 at 5:26 AM
Just a guy curled up on the ground. Probably sleeping.
