Literally just here to lurk lmao
I keep thinking about this: we've militarized the police to the point they're probably worse than soldiers at policing. What good is using soldiers for police when your police are already soldiers? They gain nothing but more bodies, who are less enthusiastic about doing crimes than ICE recruits.

It's powerful because it turns the enemy's strength (violence) into a weakness! It's a perfect example of a clever strategy, based on bravery and willingness to sacrifice!

Meanwhile fetishizing violence is a coward's way out; it's the illusion that with enough violence you won't get hurt.

I'm not even Christian and I can't help but feel God himself has struck them blind in retaliation for their sins. This kind of behavior is the very reason the story of Sodom exists.

Maybe a realignment on the issue of whether we should have democracy or solve things through violence?

It's weird to imagine voters being process-oriented with the process being "violence" though. Very Fukuyama of them.

Also it's weird to assume protest is meant to persuade the party? Like, the civil rights movement didn't target Bull Connor because of his open mind.

every leftist's liberal and every liberal's leftist

Yeah the key to good regulation is to identify the actual harm, define it very clearly, and then regulate that instead of just whatever gives the "ick." So this looks a lot less like banning all AI and a lot more like banning various acts. The tricky part is just the uncomfortable conceptual work.

I hate to break it to them but if he doesn't have dishes in his sink *or* drying rack, that means he doesn't cook.

(I say this as someone who doesn't cook and routinely hosts partners or hook ups from clubs in a cliche bachelor pad condo)

Oh so you support billionaires

Oh so you support teaching toddlers toxic masculinity
December 24, 2025 at 5:01 PM
How dare you disrespect the lives of everyone who suffered in society, their lives are worth living!
December 24, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Wow, everyone is providing language is ambiguous and conflict is inevitable and you're laughing?

This thread is going to immediately reveal who has or has not wasted 2,000 hours of their life on that game.

Same; I resent that I can either read or write but not do both, despite the fact good writing requires reading.
December 20, 2025 at 7:16 PM
No no by 2035 Warframe will have made knock off imitations of all games that ever existed. Every other studio will be dead due to incompetent management. All games will be played through Warframe. They'll be grindy and mediocre imitations of a forgotten golden era of gaming.

I feel bad for your mentions. But this is tremendous content.
December 15, 2025 at 10:18 PM
Also: bad reading and writing leads staffers to write ambiguous and ineffective laws. Reading and writing are tied to being able to think clearly about concepts and trade offs, which is necessary to make clear and concise laws! Laws are like poetry; every word matters.

Oh, this is a polling firm.
December 8, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Yeah it *could* be a legitimate concern in the specific context of an online website that uses a hashtag system. Which, if anything, is a great example of the structure of social media causing unrelated groups to fight each other. Buuuuut white polyamorous psychodrama goes brrr so they ran with it.
December 3, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Oh god I remember that one. I remember trying to explain to polyamorous people that *saying "poly" in person at a polyamorous meet up* is not going to cause confusion or in any way harm any Polynesian community, and in fact, believing all words must only have one meaning is bad.
December 3, 2025 at 9:50 PM
no no we all listen to Joy Division in support of Ian Curtis, the man who cancelled Joy Division. It's praxis. this is peak discourse.
December 2, 2025 at 10:22 PM
Look we can do better. We can cancel Ian Curtis for the fact that if he lived he would have supported the UK in the Falklands War and then proceed to celebrate the man who cancelled him first (Ian Curtis).
December 2, 2025 at 10:14 PM
Yeah I'm not sure how to distinguish using this for a random person from using this for whatever the modern version of Draco/Harry or Wincest shipping is. And then I'm pretty sure I know which one of those "victims" has enough clout to actually use laws to protect itself.

Feels like a better written Padme would be a cynical and racist politician who thinks she can use Anakin for her own career, only to slowly have it dawn on her that she's trapped by him.
