The book is not as depressing as it seems. It is often interpreted this way as the vast majority of readers do not read all of it. You need to read all of it to get the full message Orwell intended. Which is a hopeful one

Alien Clay was a great read, I’ve read quite a few of your books now and I genuinely really enjoy them. I feel the universe building is excellent and unusually for me, I never quite beat you to the twist. Which is an added bonus. I look forward to the WIPs release. Good luck! fingers crossed!

I appreciate the sentiment but this, if you ask any historian, is wrong. The task of historians is to use those fragments of facts to get as close to the truth as is possible. History is not static it is an active process revised with every new finding. You can disagree with it if it is wrong.

I was kind of the opposite I loved the adventure of trying to figure out what was happening, as it was weird and unique, the reveal was a bit more straightforward than I would have liked but still a brilliant book in my opinion.
