Tall, cinema-obsessed, comic book-reading, beer-swilling, rock'n'roll-loving, happily married father of the world's cutest/snarkiest nineteen-year-old.
I remember passing on buying this when it was new because my teen self thought it too expensive for just six songs. Didn’t realize it was so rare now!

Someone else who also witnessed the first event I mentioned above: bsky.app/profile/will...
The Q&A went long and the theatre eventually cut Udo’s mic, so I also got to see him yell at the staff. “I COME a LONG WAY to talk to MY FANS… and this is DISRESPECT!” R.I.P. to a real one.

Ah, got it, I was misreading their display.

Yeah, must be a glitch or a strange design choice. It’s entirely possible that I overrode my personal preference this time out and picked the Beasties to take it all based on my perception of their album being a critical darling. Memory’s the first thing to go.

Very strange! On the far right hand side of my bracket, I see a checkmark beside Doolittle but on the far bottom of my bracket, it says I picked Paul's Boutique to be the winner. I'm not too familiar with the Challonge interface - does this make any sense?

This is how I, "CaptFuzz Dreams of 1989", find out that I somehow made it into the top 10! I don't usually follow the prediction contest since I usually fill out my bracket from personal preference and hence am always at the bottom. (Also I picked Doolittle, so I won't be on that podium with you.)

No lie, an enthusiastic cry was involuntarily pulled from my lungs by the opening strains of "I'm Stranded". Follow-up "Know Your Product" only lifted me higher. Nothing beats a good rock and roll concert.

Glad you got some!

I got mine, hope you get yours. System was excruciatingly slow, ran into numerous timeouts and errors, but somehow I made it through with perseverance. I think it took me an hour to get 7 tickets? It's astounding how they manage to have the ticketing system screw up in a different way each month.

I don't have a good answer for you, but I will note that Vol 1 has GOLDEN SWALLOW, starring Cheng Pei-Pei, directed by Chang Cheh, choregraphed by Liu Chia-liang. Loved it when I saw it 20+ years ago! (Also, thanks for the heads up on the sale, been eyeing these sets for a while.)

I think there must be an Adam Ant pirate phase too. The man did like to dress up.
October 21, 2025 at 12:45 AM
Isn’t Adam Ant dressed as a British highwayman here, from his Stand and Deliver phase? Or do I misunderstand your point and you’re disdainful of all historical cosplay?

You have earwormed me with only an image.

I did find a Faith No More song I liked a couple of years later when the Dance Cave DJ started playing "Be Aggressive".
October 16, 2025 at 4:11 AM
Fond memories, hanging with my buds at the Dance Cave circa 1990, mocking Faith No More's "Epic" anytime the DJ played it.

I picked that up on my last trip to the UK at least partly due to your praise. I’m terrible at tackling my to-read pile, but this is a good reminder to read it soon.

And if that wasn’t enough, Gina Birch, formerly of The Raincoats, opened with a spirited set. A good night out!

They also play some Lush songs, which were well chosen to include singles such as “Ladykillers” and “For Love” as well as deep cuts like “Stray” and “Light From A Dead Star”. When they did “Undertow” and “Leaves Me Cold”, possibly my two favourite Lush numbers, I was practically levitating.

I feel like there should be a Monkees episode where this game almost takes over the world.
