I think it’s very practical. It’s easy to find affordable ski clothes - and even used ski/snow clothes. Plus you can use these for other winter activities. No need to get special bike specific winter gear.

They have reflective foil. They’re not great for wet weather, but the best I’ve found for keeping my feet warm. Also pretty cheap compared to other boots.

Depends on the temp. For single digits: Columbia Omni heat boots with over the calf wool ski socks. ski pants over warm running tights. Merino wool base layers, maybe a fleece top layer and some kind of wind/rain jacket. Lobster claw gloves with glove liners. Fleece balaclava. And Ski goggles.

I recall hearing somewhere that this issue is mainly just delaying when people have kids and not if and how many they’re planning to have.

Overall, this tells the disappointing reality of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, 4 years after:
—Construction cost inflation ate up most of the increased spending
—There was no move to increase support for transit—in fact, there appears to have been a greater focus on highway than before
