Together, we’ll keep raising the bar & proving that CA’s best days are still ahead.

But our mission is clear: protect public health, drive innovation & show the world that a clean energy economy is not only possible, it’s already happening here. I’m grateful to the CARB team, my mentors, my family & the people of CA.

CARB’s legacy is one of bold action & I’m ready to carry that forward.
The challenges ahead are real & urgent especially as the federal government recklessly abandons its responsibilities.

I’m incredibly honored & humbled to have been sworn in as Chair of the @airresources.bsky.social by @cagov.bsky.social. CA doesn’t wait for the future—we lead it. Time & time again we’ve proven that clean air, economic growth & innovation can go together.

We’re building policies that are resilient, adaptive and rooted in evidence.

While the federal government recklessly dismantles decades of proven science and undermines public trust, California is doubling down on facts, data and accountability. This plan isn’t just a roadmap for cleaner air and smart climate action, it’s a declaration that science still matters.

Today CARB adopted its 2025–2030 Strategic Research Plan, setting research priorities on health, air, climate, clean transportation & sustainable communities.

Centering equity and economics, the plan delivers science-based solutions for our mission.

Today CARB blasted U.S. EPA’s illegal bid to overturn the 2009 Endangerment Finding—the cornerstone of federal climate responsibility.

EPA is ignoring 15+ years of its own science & putting millions of lives at risk. When EPA falters, CA stands tall for science & clean air.

The quote reads: “Let’s just say the quiet part out loud: EPA’s proposal is a stunningly sloppy and amateurish effort to sow doubt where there is no doubt, and EPA cannot simply repeal its own standards based on a political whim. The agency owes the American people straight, honest answers why it is proposing to carelessly risk their health, lives and property.” — Chair Liane M. Randolph. At the bottom, the CARB logo appears on the left, and text reads: Chair Liane M. Randolph on the right.

I’m closing out my time as Chair with great satisfaction knowing we are on a steady path to carbon neutrality with the future of the cap-and-trade (now cap-and-invest!) program secured and in the hands of CARB’s talented and capable team.

I am incredibly proud to have been part of today’s historic bill signing and grateful to the governor and legislative leaders for their tireless commitment to California’s climate leadership.

As I leave state service, I do so with gratitude and hope—knowing the next generation is ready to lead with courage, compassion & conviction.

I thank @cagov.bsky.social for the opportunity, my fellow board members for their partnership & @airresources.bsky.social staff for their unwavering dedication to the mission of clean air and a better future for all Californians.

Serving the public has been the honor of a lifetime and I am incredibly proud of everything the agency has accomplished over the last five years.

Enough is enough! Yesterday, CARB stood up for science—and for people—by exposing a deeply flawed U.S. Department of Energy “study” that dangerously downplays the real human cost of climate disasters.
Graphic with a quote from CARB Chair Liane Randolph, stating, “This DOE document relies on the old tobacco industry strategy of undermining established science, spreading doubt about established reality and carelessly endangering our fellow human beings.”

With millions of Californians living in areas of unhealthy air quality, it is our legal & moral obligation to fight back against the attacks on clean air that put the health of every American at risk—we will not give up on cleaner air & better public health for all.

This QTs modest decline in ZEV vehicle sales is no surprise given the federal govts misguided & ongoing assault on clean transportation. They may slow progress—but they can’t stop it. ZEVs are here to stay.

Today’s moves from the feckless federal govt are just the latest in a string of negligent deregulatory actions—fantasy over fact. Back on Earth, the world suffers from inaction. CA chooses reality, science & innovation. We won’t turn our backs—and we know we’re not alone

"Today’s announcements are just the latest moves from this feckless federal government that choose polluter fantasyland over proven science. Meanwhile, back on Earth, the planet continues to suffer from the consequences of unchecked carbon pollution as heatwaves, floods and wildfires threaten increasingly uninsurable communities everywhere."
