Yeah I missed the point at first but I agree with you for sure.

Everyone wants to be summoning salt or jon bois but not everyone can be or needs to be.

Personally, I find myself enjoying the story and characters. I've noticed my favorite fire emblem games tend to have characters that are considered pretty well-written. I'll also say the freedom of class customization is a positive of the modern FE games that you wont see in the older ones.

I think games getting an automatic 4 if they're not fundamentally broken plays a big role with that too.
