Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS and COSMIC Epoch 1 will be release December 11th, 2025.

Future Pop!_OS releases, starting with Pop!_OS 26.04 LTS, will now align with the Ubuntu LTS release timing (approximately two weeks after the Ubuntu release date).

It was nice to see friends, colleagues and new tech at #UbuntuSummit. All the talks were great. I particularly enjoyed @jenson.org UX design talk.

I love this laptop. Had the opportunity to work on it for a few weeks and it's a pleasure to use. Wonderful screen. Wonderful keyboard. AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 & NVIDIA RTX 5070 make a perfect combination. I like my 14" Darter but I can feel the tug from this one.
The Oryx Pro will be the first laptop preloaded with the Pop!_OS beta. Also equipped:
-New 2K display (16:10, 240Hz)
-NVIDIA RTX 5070 graphics
-Our fastest mobile CPU offering
-Silver color, aluminum build

xdg-surface-shape-v1 has been submitted to wayland-protocols. The protocol provides a method for clients to communicate their corner radii to the server/compositor and thus enable clean outlines around windows made with additional toolkits. gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayl...

COSMIC apps border outline now matches the corner radius.

The work is based on conversations to establish a corner radius wayland protocol. We'll submit our draft protocol soon. If accepted and adopted, compositors will be able to render clean borders around more apps in the Linux ecosystem.

Interesting fact: AMD+NVIDIA hybrid laptops require Wayland. This is because the latest AMD Radeon integrated GPUs are not VGA compatible and hybrid won't work in that configuration on X11 (everything runs on the dGPU).

A community-built COSMIC Calendar app is in the works.

Making COSMIC in Rust required building the fundamental capability to create a desktop environment. This included text rendering and a complete toolkit of high-level components with deep platform integration. That foundation now makes it easy to build apps, applets, and components for COSMIC.

We're setting up Weblate for COSMIC translations. Coverage is already surprisingly strong given that they're all manual PRs.

* Arabic 72%
* Bulgarian 92%
* Chinese 98%
* Hindi 75%

And my personal favorite, Occidental with 45%.

Thanks for hosting COSMIC @weblate.org!

User testing is great for sanity checking assumptions, learning where to improve, and avoiding user frustration. We conducted a small round this week. It revealed a couple areas to polish but overall the users took to COSMIC easily. We're looking good.

COSMIC Store now supports managing Flatpak repos including adding custom sources. This was necessary to add COSMIC applets in the Store. Many distros prefer not to include additional sources but are cool with features that allow users to add them themselves.

COSMIC supports VIM shortcuts for window actions and desktop features. Every action can be configured with multiple shortcuts. Out of the box, HJKL or arrow keys can be used to change window focus, move windows, and switch workspaces.

Shortcuts can be customized in Settings.

Transform your COSMIC desktop look and layout in ~one minute. No grabbing hex colors or dotfiles to mess with (all settings are stored in plaintext files if you prefer that).

I like the music on this one but what do ya'll think?
