I actually have a tab-size limit instead of a count. This is the smallest I'll let my tabs get. At this point, if I need to open a new tab, I must close an old one. Method. System. Success!
tab bar with many tabs open but not TOO many. Each tab is exactly an inch in length on my screen, and that's all that matters.

"Keep the stitches small?" Xan requested, miserably as May poked the needle into his face.  "Xan, we've only got red thread. Doesn't matter how small I make it, you're going to look like a blue baseball." He groaned in a way that reminded May, uncannily, of the Night of the Living Dead and a sudden rush of panic electrified her nervous system. She'd seen what the venom had done to Listay's arm over just a season, and Xan had said it was worse now. She stopped sewing, leaving the thread and needle dangling from his cheek. "Jesus, Xan. Your face," she whispered, holding her hand over the damage to pretend for just a moment longer that he was fine as her vision blurred and swam.

For #WIPSnips today, a bit of certified May lore! She is, indeed a Capricorn. She has a lot of Aries and Gemini in her chart, though. She was born in January. July was her great, great, grandfather's chosen last name (Jack July) and her father named her May June because he thought it would be funny.
She woke up cold, uncounted hours later, to the sound of a chewing chainsaw outside. The fire had finished its work, nothing but pale grey ashes left.  "Which one of my boys you gonna marry, huh?"  Olga's query thrust May out of her groggy mist and into a cold, wet dread that reached deeper than the Pacific Ocean had, moistening her very soul. She cringed. "None," she said forcefully.  "Well why not? They're good boys. You should know that. You been with them the past few weeks."  "They're fine," she said, rolling around and pretending to go back to sleep.  "Jake is especially fond of you, you know. He'd make a good husband. Strong, simple. Not the brightest bulb in the batch, but he's a hard worker." May pretended to snore.  "What about Leif, then? Handsome boy, isn't it? He's a real softy, too, when you get to know him better. That boy's a Cancer through and through. What about you, hon?" "Capricorn," May muttered.  Astrology talk typically annoyed May, and romance talk always did. Once, Xan had taken her to an astrologer on NotTuhnt for entertainment. It had been quite entertaining watching the astrologer try to suss out the chart of someone born in an entirely different star system, but in the end, he'd managed it with an accuracy that had May a little suspicious.  "Really? Not a Scorpio?" "Capricorn," she said again, forcefully.

reverse-harem coded, but she has no idea because she's so freaking ace 😂
She hooked her belt-line into the metal eyelet that held the buoy to its rope and heard the captain over the loud speaker, "That's it. She's come to senses. Winch her up." She was met by three pairs of hands dragging her over the edge, laying her down, rubbing her body all over to warm her up. "Stop that," she said, batting their hands away as she sat up. "I'm fine." "You're fine?!" asked Jake. "I'm fine," she asserted. “Sea god, remember?” she said, stood, a little shakily on account of the ice, and walked herself down to the galley where she shed her wet clothing and got herself a big woolen blanket to wrap up in. The rest of the crew were so stunned, it took them a full thirty seconds to start after her. They descended on her as she sat warming up by the heater. "You're incredible!" said Leif. “Holy shit, I’ve never seen anything like that,” said Lucas. "You really are a god, ain't you?" said Jake. “Go on, get,” said Apo to the boys. "I'm the designated medic here. You three bring her a coffee and an incident report page." "Yes, sir," the others said in unison.

"Have you ever used a gun?" Listay asked, screwing the plasma canister into the zapper while Xan sat on the edge of the bed, fiddling with the end of an Uncomfortable Flinger. It drew a thin line of vibrant green blood along his fingertip that instantly disappeared. "Those are sharp," Listay warned him, too late.  "Yeah, sharp. I can confirm." He put the Flinger back in its belt. "Uhh, well, way back when I was in the Tinsel Merkin Fiasco they were doing a military-themed burlesque show, and I looked so awkward with the fake ray guns that they ended up kicking me off that show and putting me stage hand duty."  "But you were in the Tuhntian military, during the war. Did they send you through basic training?"  "I was a diplomat! Diplomats are generally rather in opposition to carrying weapons. Basic training for us invovled a lot of dinner parties and memorizing formal handshake choreography." He laid down on the bed alongside the weapons. "My philosophy has always been that I'd rather die than kill something, and now I can't die so it's a non-issue, right?"

2) I make new OCs often as a write, but the newest major OC is probably Rawr from Aliens in New Florida (releasing 2026!) who’s a gregurlian but from Earth for reasons which become apparent later in the book ;)

Today she sat at the control panel, fiddling with the nib and contemplating, out loud to him, on her desire to someday adopt some larvae and raise them but, since she hadn't had that kind of family, she was worried she'd turn out to be a horrible parent. No better than being raised by the military. And Aimz wouldn't be a good parent, either, so-- "Yeah, Aimz would be a terrible influence. Not the nurturing type, either. Not at all," Xan said.  Listay leaped onto the control panel and pointed the Death Lash at Xan so quickly, neither of them were sure how she'd done it. Xan backed up, his hands raised. "Whoa, mun, it's me! It's just me!"

#wipsnips today! I keep pulling these from the beginning of the book, so here's an additional bit from later on when May gets stranded in Alaska with some very reverse-harem-esque crab fishermen. Shame she's so incredible ace 😂
"Listay! Hi!" Xan fell off the barstool and slung his arms around her neck, affecting a masterful impression of a full-body scarf. "You made it!" May tugged on his arm. "Xan, you're mad at her, remember?" He turned his head to look down at her. "Me? No...doesn't sound like...wait! Yes, no, I do remember. Here it is...one blip." He released Listay and leaned, instead, on May who in turn leaned on the bar to hold him up. "You did this to May!" he pointed at the red stitches in his face.  "You, Xan. She did that to you," May whispered in his ear. "You fish?" she asked the table.  "No, we're humans!" said a slightly inebriated Lucas who chuckled at his own joke.  "Speak for yourself, Luke," said APO, setting down his cards to give May his full attention. "Crab fishing, when it's in season," he said. "That's in...oh, three days?" he asked the table.

"I--" he watched their fingers tighten around Listay's coordinates. Defeated, he turned on the identity sharing from his BEAPER and held it out to them. They tapped their BEAPER to his, giggling happily, then handed him the coordinates. "Thanks," he said. "Once I get this problem sorted out, we'll have a night out, alright?" he had the uncanny sense that he was lying. That this problem wouldn't be sorted any time soon. That he didn't really want to have a night out with them. Why was he saying this? And what happened to the version of him who was so desperate for love, he'd be taking this, admittedly attractive, agent out as soon as they were off duty? Even a big heart like his could fill up eventually, he thought as he left for the intertubes. Maybe somehow loving May had changed him.

As per usual, Xan handled the fashion, choosing for them a matching set of fast-looking LayFlex ™ heated suits in a pale teal with black designs that would contrast nicely with May's coloring and would have the added benefit of making Xan appear to be totally naked apart from a few tasteful black stripes.  After getting dressed, May caught him inspecting himself in the mirror. "Who are you trying to impress, blue? There aren't any cameras out there." "Oh, just him," Xan said, winking at himself in the mirror. He frowned. "He's a tough customer, though. Does this make me look too salacious?"

"Get me off this fucking planet," she groaned.  The exhaustion wicked away, he knew that voice. "May!" He hopped up to his knees and snatched her as if she were a buoy on a stormy sea, pulling her down to the bed and nuzzling into her neck as she struggled to balance the container of noodles she'd brought to share with him.  "Food, food," she warned him, and he let her go so she could safely sit back up and bring the noodles to rest on the bed between them. Xan's skin tingled from where he'd touched her and he shook his hands out.  "Zuut, May, you're full of radiation again. And your hair!" He ran his fingers through it, it was about four inches long if he stretched it. "You got incinerated again didn't you?"

Good morning, starshine! llove you Now This is how my girlfriend greets me now High fives to you The Audacity Sapphire2319 * ** One of my favorite book series of all time that was actually recommended to me on Likewise. The plot is simple, but everything else is entertaining as heck! The dialogue is witty, the narration is insanely funny at times (gotta love narrators with personality), and the characters are charming and have such great chemistry with eachother. Xan quickly became one of my top five favorite literary characters, and this first book was a great establishment of his relationship with May. I also adore the world, or, rather, galaxybuilding as the vibes are very retro sci-fi (and reminiscient of MST3K for any fellow Msties out there). Do yourself a favor and read this book! After reading book 1, I will now forever associate I Love Lucy with this series. Okay, this is "command(eer)" but close enough? Xan is having a very bad time. #WipSnips
He strode purposefully, holding his head level as he figured it would help keep his brain level, too. He just needed to commandeer a rocket ship, track The Audacity down, and everything would be fine. He could definitely commandeer a ship. He had, like, 200 crystals still in his account. That would be enough for passage back to Tzerblaba, one-way. Then he'd just suck a few thousand ovipositors dry and he'd have enough to actually buy a ship. A cheap one, at least. Yes, and then another thousand ‘positors and he'd have enough for fuel and THEN he'd go after May who was currently in one of the fastest rocket ships ever to come out of the Flotluex system and EVENTUALLY, if she hadn't gone too far, he'd catch up to her.  Being immortal really made these impossibly lengthy goals seem a bit more manageable, he thought, crying quietly.
