Look - it’s right next to the chapel!
And bears a similar cross - did Carnegie know, I wonder?

Tiniest in our series #18 of #IrishCarnegies - in Garriston near Dublin 66 in Ireland.

A priest asked Carnegie’s permission to place the library on church land. Declined.
it was built there by 1906, same land, same stone even - looks like a church outbuilding. But it’s still a free public library!

Really positive listing, ironically, of endangered crafts - searching for new specialists! @heritagecrafts.bsky.social

Loving this art cube in The Hague - where could we locate one?

For whom? With what? By when? How?

Our beautiful sandstone Belfast Coat of Arms ‘Pro Tanto Quid Retribuamus’ over our front door, and the colourful City Hall carpet version!

Who knows the heraldic features?

Carnegie’s timing was unfortunate in his efforts to prevent WWl - but the spectacular building remains a powerful legacy now occupied by @icjp.bsky.social

We went to Dromore Linen Festival - lots of learning for our proposed Carnegie Centre for Weaving!

Flax, retting, scutching, spinning, weaving; every aspect of linen production.

The elegant Carnegie Library on Donegall Road - one of three in Belfast (Falls Road, still a library, and ours in the third sector).
This one in private hands, let out as offices.
Carnegie liked hills - I want people to walk up to the enlightenment.
It’s still called ‘Library Hill’!

D’oh… haven’t we known this since even before Andrew Carnegie gifted 2,500 free public libraries to the world!
