Yeah Northodox are lovely! I'll ask around. We'll test the waters with sales repping directly to indie bookshops, and get the lay of the land in terms of who accepts direct orders versus third parties like Gardners. Planning to get a webstore running ready for preorders too!

You can purchase ISBNs without filling out title data, which is all the info that's then accessible to libraries and booksellers etc. The ISBN isn't hugely useful without filling in that data, of course! But if you wanted it to be an exclusive item, that's how you'd do it.

The question is whether Amazon is in fact still the book ordering service of choice, or if book lovers are perfectly happy to go wherever the books are. Lots to consider!
carnyxpress.co.uk
Amazon is a whole kettle of fish of indie publishers. Yes, you want readers to be able to find your book on their platform of choice, but we really don't want to give business to a massive predatory conglomerate that undercuts the bookshops we love

Publishing thoughts for the day: weighing up the benefits of listing our future titles on Nielsen (which opens up options like getting books into libraries etc) with the fact that it means titles will then automatically get imported into Amazon

A dunnock’s prayer
by Corinna Board

O wingless wun,

Bright sky-keeper,
bringer o’ frost,
maker o’ hip an haw,
can ye hear my

I sing for ye
in the blackthorn

OCTOBER COUNTRY
By Ray Bradbury
... that country where it is always turning late in the year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and midnights stay. That country composed in the main of cellars, sub-cellars, coal-bins, closets, attics, and pantries faced away from the sun.
That country whose people are autumn people, thinking only autumn thoughts. Whose people passing at night on the empty walks sound like rain. ...

Confirmation of receipt for the last few submissions will go out by the end of today. Then we'll get to work making our selections, and will be back in touch with everyone by the end of the month!
carnyxpress.co.uk
Submissions are now closed for our first anthology. Thank you to everyone who sent us a story! We've had over 100 submissions, from every corner of the North of England. It’s been very heartening to get such interest in the press, and for folks to trust us with their words ♥️
carnyxpress.co.uk
A particular thank you to those who aren't eligible to send us stories because of our regional focus but show an interest in what we're about anyway. We genuinely do appreciate this, and hopefully further down the line we can put out some opportunities for you too ♥️

Just a few hours left to submit!

We're sure you'll all be very glad to stop having our submissions reminders clutter your feed, but just want to take a moment to say thank you for submitting, spreading the word, and following along.
