I love late summer days with a hint of autumn but plenty of warmth in the sun. Today, I swam, worked at desk, watered the garden, had a splendid lunch in the shade of the magnolia tree with M., washed laundry, ate a choc ice while I finished the novel I was reading. A day of rest!

Arrived into rainy Cork after very late first flight, almost missed connection and no luggage! If it doesn't arrive tomorrow, I will be doing my event in pink trousers and orange shirt!! Off to Bantry now and hope I arrive in time to buy a toothbrush.

Have arrived into Thirsk, Yorkshire to a warm welcome, lovely room, view over the market square. Real Herriot country. Tonight at the White Rose bookshop talking ONE SUMMER IN PROVENCE will be great fun. It's lovely to be back. (Flying livestock in this town too)

There's a blue tit in the house sounding like a telephone trilling. It flies out and then back in again. Suffering from the heat? It's taken about an hour to work out what the noise was. Then I saw him flying across the room. This does not show his colours: blue, yellow with black stripey markings.

A day closer to publication of ONE SUMMER IN PROVENCE. When I go on stage or in front of a camera, my stomach starts to flutter. Butterflies, stage fright.
When I have a novel to be published, the "stage fright" goes on for weeks!
