Retired banker & auctioneer, 1960s offshore radio fan (yes, I was lucky enough to get on board Radio Caroline), occasional DJ, London Transport enthusiast. Pro-rejoining EU, left the Tory Party over their betrayal of our country.
If you are only 6 inches tall, as you say, it would sound like a good match.

Surely there must be a slot for him on GB “News”?

Broadly speaking, there could perhaps be an allegation of treason but I think it might be a bit below that bar and that malfeasance in public office might be a more suitable route for any potential charges.

New name, same old (s)tories.

We used to think that some Young Conservatives looked weird but he looks beyond weird.

We have an expression in Britain that Americans probably wouldn’t understand: stop trying to be a clever dick.

The Danes already have Solvang in California and could maybe expand from there?

Anyone got the respective population and GDP figures for those groupings?

Trump’s stormtroopers. A law unto themselves and unaccountable.

Sledge in British English, sled is US English.

Surely a FPTP electoral system is no longer safe when the vote is split between 5 parties, each with a significant share. Whilst it was never a particularly democratic system, now there’s an even greater chance of a very unrepresentative result.

Unnecessary, Sir Michael.

Is it not possible for democratic countries to bring social media into a proper regulatory environment that allows them to flourish but under proper rules regarding libel, incitement, extreme pornography etc and that require full disclosure of contributor names, location, no pseudonyms or bots?

They are well suited to each other and share a mutual lack of principles and total unsuitability for high office. We can only hope that the electorate susses this before the next general election.

On the face of it, this is a very socialist proposal by Trump. Anti-business, anti-capitalism. Hopefully, this is the start of a Damascan conversion that will see many more consumer-protection measures introduced.

Sounds revolting but chacun a son gout!

Will this be his Thatcher and the Falklands moment where he gets a massive boost to counter his poor domestic poll ratings?

Straight out of the North Korean playbook (or that of any megalomaniac dictator).

Perhaps it simply reflects a broad feeling across society as a whole that the intense lobbying by a tiny minority group had become too out of proportion.

Oh, and its profits should be taxed even more than it is at present.

The gambling industry and its obscene profits are signs of a sick society. The exploitation of gullible people. I wouldn’t ban it outright in a free society but I do think that advertising it should be regulated similarly to tobacco products.

Why on earth would we be making cars that don’t comply with EU standards? Where’s the advantage in that?

We used to laugh at Reagan, thinking he wasn’t the brightest President ever but at least he was a decent man with good advisers and he never talked gibberish. The man in the White House today just doesn’t seem to have ever visited Planet Earth.

Today’s world is so different from the post-WW2 one that it is both right and inevitable that a noble convention written at that earlier time should now be reviewed and updated.

I think it’s a sensible compromise, negotiated with both the unions and employer bodies. 2 years was probably too long to wait for certain rights and one day would just have led to abuse and frivolous claims.
