Book #20 - The Forgotten Hero of My Lai by Trent Angers. This was about a soldier during the Vietnam war who protected innocent civilians from a massacre.

‘’’The soldier, be he friend or foe, is charged with the protection of the weak and unarmed. It is the very essence and reason for his being.’”

#19 of 2025 - Woman, Captain, Rebel by Margaret Wilson. I enjoyed this book because of the glimpse into Icelandic history and the woman was BADASS. She overcame adversity many times and lived into her 80s, which was rare for the time. What a strong woman who cared more about others than herself.

Book #8 of 2025. A Fever in the Heartland.

To say they have disbanded is not entirely true - they have infiltrated law enforcement, government, and military, and their generational hate has been passed down for years (as evidenced in the book Stamped from the Beginning).

Book #7 - The Great Escape by Saket Soni. It is an incredible story of one of the largest human trafficking schemes in US history. Hundreds of men from India were trafficked to work on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico falsely promised green cards by a large corporation. Definitely recommend.

Book #6 of 2025 - Cher - The Memoir. Talk about overcoming adversity - her childhood was an absolute nightmare. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend if you enjoy autobiographies about extraordinary people overcoming incredibly challenging circumstances.

#5 book of 2025 - Phenomenon by Rick Ankiel. Someone had suggested this book after I read Jason Kander’s book. He gets the ‘yips’ very early in his baseball career and it is his journey to overcome the psych disorder and reconcile his relationship with his abusive jailbird father. A short read.

Book #4 of 2025 - A Life of Secrets by Sarah Helm. If I am honest, I could not get into this book. The writer did not pull me in and there is a lot of filler in the book - probably could have been half as long and still get the story across. My opinion for whatever it is worth.

Book #3 of 2025 - Invisible Storm by @jasonkander.bsky.social He opens up about his journey as a soldier, a politician, and a person with crippling PTSD. It is a vulnerable and raw read in his attempt to help others. Would highly recommend.

#2 book of 2025. Why Does Everything Have to be About Race by Keith Boykin. I will never understand why a human treats another differently due to the amount of melanin in their skin. Favorite takeaway is being “color kind.” Embrace all differences and love one another - it really is that simple.

Finished! First book of 2025 - American Kleptocracy by Casey Michel. Great read - highly recommended to educate yourself on the movement of foreign money in the US. Seriously jaw dropping.

This was such an amazing book - intriguing, thought provoking, entrenching. Highly highly recommend. FYI - there is foul language (for the pearl clutching crowd 😂). @patricgagne.com

This is the first year ever that we haven’t. We ran out of time and our youngest graduated last week with their masters…life got in the way. I have this 20+ year old Charlie Brown tree - will have to do 😊🎄

@glennkirschner.bsky.social Did you know you appear to have a couple imposters? The one that says @real followed me and then DMd me so I reported it.

I normally only post my foodie pics on Insta but happy with this one and wanted to share. Super quick and flavorful. Scallops with peaches, corn, and tomatoes from NYTimes Cooking. I added lime juice and a Thai chili. I used frozen peaches and corn (time of year)

I normally only post my foodie pics on Insta, but proud of how these chili chicken tostadas turned out, so what the hell 😁 First time making the tostada shells from scratch. Recipe is from Bon Appetit.
