At very least, we will be incredibly happy that you’ve found a way to return the gift our company is to you, by giving us back some of our most precious resource.

We will be happier and more relaxed when with you, will have more time for things that fulfill us and make us more interesting to be around, and may even have more time for you.

Sending us to the spa to relax is not going to help if we don’t have time for it.

But if you have the resources to cover someone to make our lives run more smoothly, and can support us in getting it set up, the dividends from that will be better than anything you can get in the stock market.

Your companion likely doesn’t have experience or a model for managing household staff and your guidance here can be critical to their success.

So many of us come to this industry hoping to survive, and once we begin to thrive and succeed, there is a gap where we don’t have the systems in place to outsource and think we have to do it all.

And then, once you’ve helped them find someone, if you have management experience and they are open to your advice, help them with this part too.

A screening assistant, a housekeeper, a bookkeeper, a dog walker or sitter, a personal assistant to run errands, a meal prep chef, a full-time professional nanny instead of hacking together a bunch of babysitters, a personal stylist, a concierge travel agent,

I don’t care who they are, they need more help. I don’t know a single person in this industry who doesn’t.

This will look different for different people but the bottom line is always the same.

As it so happens, I have about 8 jars of imported peanut butter left…

There will also be another adjustment coming (when I next decide I feel like doing math) to bring my hourly rates and arrangement rate table into closer alignment.

I read through that post this morning and… yikes. I will never understand this mentality that people with skills or experience that are applicable to this industry should give their labor away to help other people make money.
