I’ve been exploring the audiobook world, testing AI narration tools while using a pro narrator for my Legacy fiction and narrating The Culinary Students’ Adventures myself. I’ve learned a lot about the full publishing process. My books are on carolynnewilson.com love to hear your audiobook journeys.

Culinary memories from Aged, France: delicate bars of chocolate & hazelnut layered with crisp textures, and a plate that feels like an edible canvas. Course-created magic!

Watched 'Too Much' I thought the writing clever, the dialogue seemed simplistic at first, but was rich and layered. The characters revealed themselves gradually, with a quiet honesty that felt real and unforced.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers advised this content contains people who have passed. In 2010, I partnered with Mornington Island's community on a “closing the gap” strategy. Their strength and art, as seen in Karen Chong’s work, taught me lasting lessons in respect and collaboration.

Buying a train ticket without speaking the language is always an adventure, but nothing prepared me for this: somewhere between Rostock Germany and Copenhagen, the entire train rolled onto a ferry! One moment on rails, the next gliding across the sea. Travel surprise level: epic.

Travel tip: Don’t confuse the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg with the Hermitage Hotel, especially in a Russian winter. After arriving by train, trekking across the snowy Fontanka River, discovered the hotel was 3 kilometres away. Cold, wet and wiser, finally arrived, grateful for warmth and tea.

Before COVID, I fell in love with Belarus, but chaos struck. An unexpected return to Moscow with no transit lounge and now expired visas led to 10+ hours detained. A kind agent let us return to Minsk, and after discussions without either speaking the same language, we were cleared to fly to Vienna

Building my profile sent me down memory lane, back to India where I supported the building of a design team for GM. I never quite got into cricket, but I still cherish the team’s parting gift. A surprise highlight? Touring the Bangalore army base They were very kind despite being short on resources

Volunteering with the Australian Coast Guard in Port Phillip Bay took me way out of my comfort zone. Night classes, weekend patrols, and endless lessons, from mastering boat safety to seeing the wild and often hilarious things people do on water. Can't say I loved every minute, but I learnt heaps.

Munich was unforgettable, grateful to wonderful friends who entrusted me with their beautiful apartment while they were away. I swam in the iconic Olympic pool, explored the city’s vibrant charm, and savoured its diverse cuisine. Every moment felt rich with culture, warmth, and joy.

Berlin is a city that stays with you. Steeped in history that makes you reflect on humanity’s darkest chapters. While house-sitting two beautiful dogs in a four-story walk-up, I explored its haunting past, vibrant present, and left deeply moved by its strength, scars, and resilience.

Bremen, Germany was meant to be a simple housesit. I wasn't expecting much. But it turned into a revelation. One of the few cities untouched by WWII bombings, its stunning historic architecture stood tall, matched only by the locals’ deep pride and passion for their beautifully preserved city.

Off-season in the French Alps is a hidden treasure, rugged bike trails, bustling local markets, and foraging for wild garlic leaves. The landscapes are so breathtaking, it feels like you’ve stepped into a living painting, peaceful, vivid, and utterly unforgettable.

‎⁨Morzine, France, an alpine gem and one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever house-sat. Caring for two adorable cats, sipping wine, and sharing stories with warm, welcoming locals made it an unforgettable blend of charm, comfort, and mountain magic.

Madrid, Spain is one of my all time favourite cities. I’d dreamed of catching a live soccer match, but with ticket prices soaring over €700, it stayed a dream this time. Still, the city's energy, food, and charm more than made up for it.

Casablanca surprised me. It wasn’t the movie dream, but I still couldn’t resist visiting the recreated Rick’s Café with “Frankly, my dear…” echoing in my mind. However, sharing lunch and visiting the breathtaking mosque with friends made it all unforgettable.
