Good question! I was listening to a podcast a few weeks ago where they said the Biden White House thought the deadline was an issue. I don’t have that in writing to share. But get caught trying, even if you might lose in court!

There was a deadline to get all states to ratify the ERA that was missed by decades. Some legal scholars feel the deadline was unconstitutional and shouldn’t apply. So it never got published and made a part of the constitution. Once it is it, there will be a lawsuit. But we need to publish to argue.

Clearly it’s complicated. But telling the archivist to publish it would have been a stronger statement. And maybe that’s a law suit too? But just making a statement and not asking anyone to do anything seems less helpful.

I think that’s what people were anticipating he would do. And when he declared his support initial assumption was that is what happened. But it didn’t mention publishing, unfortunately.

He needs to tell the archivist to publish it. Otherwise this is meaningless.

I heard a talk when I was in college from a representative from the Carter center about their work to eradicate Guinea worm. It was still a work in progress at that time. It’s what inspired me to study public health.

So is the death penalty wrong or not? Glad democrats in Virginia held strong and didn’t allow for exceptions that almost derailed the repeal.
