I am the Executive Director for The Kensington Conservancy, a charitable land trust that protects land in the St. Joseph Channel area (Ontario, Canada). I also teach ornithology at Sault College's School of Natural Environment.
I took my ornithology class to the Sault College Woodlot this afternoon and we were treated to this flyover Golden Eagle!

Nature can be found just about anywhere! While not a new species for me, this Eastern Boxelder Bug was my first one within the Algoma District and was found in Room 4 at the Echo Bay Sportsplex right after our team got eliminated from hockey playoffs.

It was great to visit Mexico last week and see a variety of really neat wildlife species! Here we have a Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl, White-nosed Coati, West Indian Mangrove Buckeye, and Central American Spider Monkey.

Spotted Towhees are rare here in eastern North America, but they are known to show up as vagrants from time to time. This one found a feeder on St. Joseph Island this winter and I had the pleasure of being able to go see it recently. It's only the third record for the Algoma District!
