Americans called them all Christmas cacti until we learned that most of them in the shops are S. truncata. Very difficult to find S. buckleyi unless you order from a grower. The last "Holiday Cactus" I bought in a shop styled itself as a Zygocactus. And they bloom whenever they please. 😄

Great photo of the bird. Also I like the one of the web with thr little orange bit that looks kind of like a wee pumpkin.

I have soaked fountain pen nibs in warm water. Sometimes they dry out and need moisturizing. That's my theory anyway.

Seems that conservative or ultra conservative Christian groups over the last 2000+ years automatically default to an OT authoritarian God. Lots of "righteous" anger and smiting of sinners (people who disagree with the guy who's the Dear Leader of the moment).

It was an interesting tour. I was hoping the Tesla truck would do something stupid in the snow. You got more snow than we did up here in MA. But we're in negative temperature land till Friday.

I didn't sign up for Threads and I don't remember why I didn't but it seemed like a good reason at the time. Now my FB feed is littered with bits of Threads posts as enticements to go on over there and join up. Yeah, nah.

I've seen a few out and about. They get uglier each time I do. I can't see how one can do anything trucky with them. Can't even coal roll.
