instead, i have to stay liquid enough to leave if i need to. i have to keep my stable remote job instead of taking a risk that could bloom into something more fulfilling.

not to mention how much it would set me back if i do have to flee!

it's like pouring resources down a drain.

if it weren't for the looming threat of right-wing transphobia in the US keeping me from putting down more roots, i would be thinking about trying to put a down payment on a house or starting a business with a friend

i'm hopeful but i fear making something comparable is pretty daunting for indie budgets

the only titles i know of with similar depth of emergent storytelling are like dwarf fortress or rimworld which have been under constant development for years and years

it's kind of a mess since it came before sims 3 unified talents and skills (which i thought was very good), and making basements is kind of a nightmare, but it has soo much more soul in it

most of my successful projects have more or less been in situations where i could just make a list of goals and had the freedom to attack them in a very loose kanban manner, OR someone else did all the planning
