This is a very respectable thing to do. But it strikes me that the most privileged and powerful participants in this event, the ones who maybe don't need the money AS much, are unlikely to follow her lead.

Let's pour one out for a real one. That said, Fanta is pretty good. Fruit sodas used to be my default but now I find them a little too sweet -- "too sweet" is a description that never would have crossed my mind as a kid.

I remember driving in a blowing snowstorm....I couldn't see the lines on the highway, but I could see the bright rear lights of the truck in front of me. Keeping my eyes on him kept my panic down. I hope that trucker knew he had a caravan of cars slowly and carefully driving behind him.

I have been following this fight for two days and I am PERPLEXED. Do these people work for Indivisible? I can't believe people are arguing with "XXX action might be risky in this environment, go to the protest if you want but don't sign up for it." Are they reading the same news I am?

But if (when?) her case comes before the Supreme Court, it very well could be decided that he has the right to fire her, regardless. I know the Court carved out the Fed as an exception in an earlier ruling but maybe they'll decide the allegations are sufficient (regardless of the truth of them)

You notice how a lot of the other replies are making jokes about wearing kente cloth? The response to that is not "kente cloth isn't authentically Black!" it's just that it is SEEN as a sign of Blackness. It's simply a joke and you went to such a strange place of trying to police what is authentic.

Actually, with school bus drivers specifically, the wages aren't that bad (at least here in the DMV)-- the problem is that it's not 8 full hours of work each day (and the job kinda sucks)

Oof. I live around those kinds of strivers, I'm probably one myself (to some extent) but I don't have it in me to prove I"m a good mom by waiting in line for three hours. I'm just not that good! I've been an education journalist for decades and thought I was past being surprised -- I guess not!

Who are these parents who don't have jobs and have the time to wait in a bus line for hours? Seventy percent of the parents on this 1,000+ student campus? I am so confused!!

My kid is in middle school and the bus ride is Lord of the Flies-esque, according to him...nevertheless I don't want to drive him, so toughen up, kiddo. You were going to learn all that naughty language sooner or later 😑
