I was so sad when they moved it from the original airdate - I was on a plane back from London that evening, so I missed it. The clips that I’ve seen are glorious.

Will the recent NC production be on there soon? I was on the Les Mis tour with Julie, and Anne Karner is also a dear friend. :)

Also HIIIIII Paul Gordon, I love your work! Jane Eyre, in particular, was canon for me in college. Gimme contemporary scores in corsets every day of the week.

Just last night I told hubs that I thought it was the most consistently successful movie musical adaptation since Chicago. (I have truly enjoyed a few since then, but always with quibbles.)

I was particularly impressed with the sound mixing and the feel of live singing—like, it sounds more “real” and less “canned” than a lot of Broadway shows I’ve been to in the past few years.

I’m a tough crowd for movie musicals…I always want to love them and usually leave with mixed feelings. WICKED exceeded my expectations on every level. The design was gorgeous, the staging inventive. And the clarity and specificity of the moment to moment acting choices…. YES!!

10) Your voice, your body, and your ideas deserve to take up space in the world.

It’s time to redefine what leadership is “supposed to” look and sound like.

I’m more passionate about this mission than ever.

7) All the best people have some imposter syndrome sometimes. People without imposter syndrome break the world.

8) Prescribing hand gestures (like frickin’ STEEPLE HANDS), as if certain body language always makes you look powerful, is dumb.

9) Stop penalizing feminine-coded language and voices!

4) Executive Presence is a crusty, ill-defined concept often used to gatekeep power.

5) Everyone has vocal fry sometimes. Ums and uhs are not the death of your gravitas.

6) You find public speaking stressful and scary because you care, and that’s a good thing. We can work with our nervous system.

2) Communication is that you-ness of you voice meeting CONTEXT. Context is everything. This is why context-free communication advice doesn’t work.

3) We have to stop thinking of authenticity in communication as an individual pursuit and start thinking of it as a community practice.
