I hate authoritarianism and I love musical theatre
“Ziwe” and “The Adam Friedland Show” are two different executions of the same tactic: guests think because Ziwe and Adam are comedians that they will deliver softball interviews when in fact they will be some of the hardest and most well informed interviewers they will encounter

Adam Friedland is really doing something special with “The Adam Friedland Show”. I’ve been watching for the last few months and his interviews have felt so refreshing and enlightening and so funny.

“Do your own research.” I want to lose my mind. You’re upset I read the study instead of conducting it? I have a Bachelors degree in Musical Theatre, neither you or I should be conducting scientific studies, you’d just like to cherry pick fake internet slop until it validates your hateful opinion.

I think I can describe my desired style as both Jessica Fletcher and Midge Maisel and I’m not quite hitting the mark

All of the men’s/women’s common area scenes on Love Is Blind looks like The Sims.

I think the best case scenario for the NYC Mayoral race is that Zohran wins and Curtis Sliwa gets to be the Grand Marshall of all parades

A pet peeve of mine is actors in TV shows not holding cake boxes level. If there were a real cake in there it would be ruined!

The world is dark right now but it’s beautiful to look around my apartment and realize almost everything decorating its walls and shelves and tables holds a memory. Art made by friends, a boat my grandfather hung on his wall, hand drawn cards. Evidence I’m part of a fabric and not a loose thread.

Do they let kids use rubber cement in school anymore? You don’t hear much about rubber cement anymore and yet it was such a big part of my elementary school memories

The biggest trick Oscar Hammerstein ever pulled is that “Impossible” from Cinderella is just an intro one verse and a chorus over and over again and we all let him get away with it because they’re so good. No second verse necessary.

Look, I don’t think we talk enough in 2025 about what a smoke show Robert Preston was in 1962.

That’s the German professional association of journalists, @djv.de, calling on major US media to support their journalists instead of preemptively silencing them.

Rewatching “Sex and the City” and the most jarring thing is just how much people smoke inside. I mean there’s definitely fashions and technology that are very 1990s/2000s, but it still feels contemporary. But the smoking inside feels so distant and off-putting even having lived through it.

When I was 12 my music teacher let me sing “Point of No Return” from The Phantom of the Opera in class. The same year in English class I did a dramatic recitation of “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd where I did a full fake faint at the end. It’s a wonder I wasn’t bullied even more in middle school.

Today I was in the back seat next to my niece while my mom drove us all to Savers. My niece asked me to show her pictures of my cats. While watching my 5 y/o niece flip through the pictures, “When She Loved Me” from Toy Story 2 began to play on the radio. And I could not stop myself from crying.
