I think Europeans need to buy time to prepare for a post-American order. That's why I'm quite understanding of diplomatic caution shown by European leaders, but also believe that needs to be in conjunction with work to prepare Europe for potential post-American scenarios

But banking on the notion that the US will always have the will and capacity to exert the same level of global power and will to be helpful as it did between 1945 and 2015 is unwise. Europeans need to be able to work with the US when possible, and be able to operate without it when needed

El segundo punto es este: la negación de la posibilidad de ser víctimas si el agresor es blanco, poderoso o te cae bien. Solo vas a poder obtener apoyo si te pueden instrumentalizar contra un grupo que detesten. Sean inmigrantes u opositores políticos.
