With more than 3000 deaths at the hands of police over the past 50 years, there have only been 4 successful prosecutions that led to police officers being convicted and sent to prison. The disproportionate number of Black people killed represents the depth of racism ingrained in UK police forces.

Attended The People’s Tribunal on police killings this weekend. This was led by families of those killed by police who shared their story with an international panel to examine the evidence. In 6/7 of the cases I heard, it was a mental health call that ended up killing the person needing support.

On my way home from a Citizens community meeting where school aged children delivered a speech to a local councillor demanding safer neighbourhoods and schools with a call to action to join their campaign. What power we could give to youth by investing in their relational and leadership skills.

Walk today through Tower Hamlets Cemetery. One of London’s “Magnificent Seven” cemeteries. Created to deal with rapid population increase and the lack of burial space in the 19th century.

Had an inspiring time listening to all the wisdom in the room yesterday at the Black Psychotherapy conference which looked at the theme of Justice in Therapy. I’m thinking about my place around actions for systems change, bringing justice to institutions, and integrating justice into my practice. 💭
