Second Saga Con in the books! Had a wonderful week in Katowice and Krakow 🇵🇱! Thanks to the committee and all their assistants for facilitating a collegial atmosphere! It was great to reconnect with friends from all over the world and meet many new scholars who share the same passion for ON lit!

I think all airports should have a Varangian Runestone.

This Arlanda example is a commemoration of one of the many lost on the infamous Ingvar expedition to 'the east' (probably the Caspian Sea) in c. 1041-2.

Quick layover in Mannheim in route to Düsseldorf. Checked out the Wasserturm and Kunsthalle Mannheim before my next bus(which of course was delayed and I could have spent more time in the museum)! Really enjoyed viewing the works of Tavares Strachen and seeing some photos of Marlene Dietrich!

Narri, Narro! Had a great time at the 100th year celebration of Narrenzunft Rottenburg am Neckar, which brought together 45 Fool’s guilds from Swabia and beyond. There were over 7000 individuals in the parade and the procession lasted several hours with plenty of witches, confetti, and music!

In June, I found out about a new find via a metal detecting magazine’s FB page. I contacted the local FLO and went to go see it. This is such an exciting find, being a finger ring featuring a long runic inscription. It’s perhaps a mixed script inscription, with both runes and Roman letters.

It was a pleasure to work with Aquilia, a British children’s magazine, on their December #Vikings issue! The issue is a mix of facts and fun that will hopefully inspire the next generation of Vikingologists! Plus the spreads by different illustrators are simply gorgeous!
