There was a quote on the BBC Sport feed saying that the fans can make a 10 man Newcastle team play like a 12 man Newcastle team and we showed that tonight. You can’t buy that with a single player.

For the most part I absolutely agree, but I will say I’ve watched some very sensitive, affecting documentaries recently around particular VAWG murders in the UK. Sky Docs channel and C4 tend to get it right more than the others - less sensationalism and more authenticity, and sadness, really.

So proud of them, and our fans for raising the roof. We rest, we recuperate and we go again.

I work in fostering and nothing gives you a fat dose of perspective more than children who’ve had nothing who are pushing on through life with hope & optimism. Some adults could stand to learn a lot from them.
