Spectre of autism.
I have a reputation for being very boring.
It's a neat idea but the real world efficiency needs... trials. Which they are doing, which is good. We'll see how it works out, it'll probably only be good for places closer to the tropics than the poles as per usual. We got sand batteries hoping to get heat storage going and... it could be worse?

Yup, but it was real anyway. Turns out you can coat the blades with dazzle camouflage and add reflectors to get scarecrows. The sound issue is fixed with trees and a ground penetrating radar. Still can't do anything about wind being fickle. And between maintenance and magnets you gotta get picky.

I went "HEY" at your video about it, because the price argument goes out the window once we start recycling and stop polluting the third world... but it's still vastly cheaper than the long term costs of fossil fuels. Bonus: EU solved the bird problem for wind turbines. (Maintenance not so much.)

Looking at the scales involved, we CAN build enough batteries if we use sodium... only the price tag will go up a lot once we can't rely on China doing it quick and dirty, or everyone else currently doing it slow and dirtier. We need full closed loop recycling so badly, as soon as possible, too.

When you're pulling your definition of a good person and their virtues directly from the og colonizer empires it kinda undercuts the point. Those people thought those were the right virtues but they're also on record arguing that slavery is natural and good.
February 3, 2026 at 6:37 AM
No, the stoics and the Catholics did not solve morality and virtue. Also some artists can't really do what they do live, especially not at a scale where it works as a career. I'm fine with dunking on tech bros but that doesn't excuse the rest.

I think he rambles way too much with bad takes about virtues he doesn't understand (and god what's with the editing with the expert) and could use an editor the way only 20% of the video says anything. The dunking on recorded media isn't exactly appreciated either. Overall, bad video.

Meh. If the current state of not having to do anything especially physically difficult goes, I go with it. At that point, the survivors will be a minority either way.

On se kamalaa, luotettavaa virtaa ilman fossiilisten saasteita (tullut varsinkin viime viikoilla huomattua että ne tuulivoimalatkin jäätyy, todella hyvää akuille 90% vuodesta tosin). Kuullut siitä uudesta co2 höyryn korvaajasta?

Nobody likes me either and I don't set up massive schemes of horrors about it. I just grumble and go do my thing.

... did they model Radiant AI on their office culture?

You'd think people were used to "flood everything with bullshit so the real crimes are harder to identify".
February 1, 2026 at 3:10 PM
On the first part I could have a few small notes (timescale of manufacturing (it's longer than that and we're late), weight of batteries (plug-in hybrids fix it but so do trains), our recycling sucks, we solved the bird problem and don't use it, arctics)... and on the second part, no notes, perfect.

I'm a computer expert, I only listen to Yud when I want to figure out what's the wild horseshit of the day. The man has never had a coherent thought.

I was gonna go for "imagine the most millenial blogger you can, and then make him a decade older", but no, this is better.

... you know, I'm looking at how often I'm going "what the fuck" and realize that once I'm explaining this to the younger generations who weren't here, I'm just going to be seen as senile and unable to remember what happened.
