I have to disagree. I personally feel that art happens as a result of observation. There's so many beautiful things that are results of human thought and action, and a lot of it never had the intention of "art" put behind it. Maybe none at all. But its still beautiful.

Its hard to find an artist who's entire body of work isn't self referential in some way. Mass access to media leads people into a hyper fixation with originality.

Ive always used GIMP for image editing and photo rendering. It seems very tailored to that in all honesty. The drawing features aren't very fleshed out. Usually I'm bringing already done work INTO GIMP for final touches.
