Thank you, I try and be proud of the fact I've shipped multiple games. Especially when I meet other developers who've been in the industry double to triple my length and have yet to ship one. It is truly a miracle to see a game ship, most get cancelled and its sad.

I wanted to add - many of us are trying to make a lasting impactful game that is fun, but a lot of us are in the same boat as I, we either ship bad games or never ship a game.

My dream and hope are to get my name on a game that is impactful, and I can be proud of.

I've been to "third world" countries and came back to America with a "What the hell are we doing with my taxes" type of attitude.
January 21, 2025 at 8:09 PM
Yeah, I agree. If anything, they'll continue their unrealistic deadlines to maximize profits. I've shipped 3 games in the last 5 years; 2 of them were extremely buggy at launch and the other one was hacked together causing issues. The result of all 3? Shut down, they weren't ready vs their deadline.
January 21, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Games in America are a terrible investment now. We saw this with the record shuttering and layoffs of 2023-2024. We have unrealistic deadlines (~2years) to make the game "profitable". My hope is if we increase prices, we can also lighten this unrealistic deadline and deliver better quality products.
January 21, 2025 at 8:03 PM
If you apply standard inflation since 2005 (when games became $60) they would be about $97 in today's money. However, games back then had no DLC and were complete with no microtransactions. If we raise prices, we should revisit the DLC + Microtransaction practice we have now. /2

Many of us who work on games do so remotely but go in the office when we want. Personally, when I commuted to the office for a "fun" work event I was exhausted the next day and my performance dropped. If games can work remotely 90% of computer jobs can be done remotely.

This is about power.

This is just a move to allow micromanagement. I'm no federal worker; I work from home as a systems engineer in games (One of the most collaborative fields) and I have worked my way from junior to senior all from home and have helped shipped 4 multi-million-dollar projects. /

Aren't Republicans trying to make it so when we vote we have to bring proof of address and citizenship and vote in person? Thats just a way to get the mass of people to no longer vote.

When I vote from home, I get a text my ballot is on the way when dropped off they verify they received/verified it

Alright, but you have to lose even when you're winning!
January 21, 2025 at 1:56 AM
(note: not a trumpster, but inflation during this period was more like 25%)
January 20, 2025 at 7:42 PM
Still, if you compare inflation from 2019 to 2024 what is the true value? We can't keep going "oh this year it's 2%" 2% on 8% is still a lot.

Pretty sure he's on something else and should submit to a full panel drug a reen before touching anything government.

Heres a tldr of the app being reverse engineered: www.reddit.com/r/videos/com...

I do highly recommend people giving it a read. Other Social Media apps are nowhere near as bad - and if a war ever breaks out who knows how weaponized TikTok becomes. China already bans our apps 🤷
Not new news, but tbh if you have tiktiok, just get rid of it

In US here but I ripped all gas appliances out of my house, including the heat system and replaced it with electric. Far cheaper and 1 less bill to worry about. Having solar helped me a lot with offsetting my decision.

He better focus on his district he's representing the poverty raised under him.

Now the next 4 years we may need to withhold as much federal taxes as possible to pay for our own relief as Trump will refuse to aid us because we're "democrat" rather than "American"

Rent will skyrocket if you think it wouldn't - no one would have incentive to build. Look at the bay, building new homes has massively slowed and the average rent is $3k.
January 13, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Then who will build the homes? Not every homeowner is a landlord, my grandma owns her home, and she's told me constantly that it will play a major role in our inheritance.

She doesn't rent it out, she doesn't own multiple homes - she has worked on her home for a decade for us kids.

I hate taxes, but I am for universal healthcare in America. I would t mind an increase in tax for that purpose
