I mean, that's a swoon-worthy pic.

Anyway I didn't know how to eloquently put it all together here because I just finished this the night before I wrote all this and I'm just so damn impressed and cannot wait to read more from Gretchen Felker-Martin.

• The queer/trans community/found familes and their inherent instability, fragility, and brutal vulnerability in a post-apocalyptic setting.

Moments in point:
• Robbie (le sigh...) in a heartbreaking moment when he reflects back... "Are you leaving? I don't want you to."
• Teach's sudden family backstory.
• Ramona's inner journey. I mean, jfc.

The TERF's in this book aren't saying anything different than what the ones in real life are.

The pace is nonstop, the action is detailed, specific, and gut-wrenching.

When I was 19, James Robert Baker's, 'Tim and Pete' had just come out and until now, was the only book I had ever read which really portrayed the rage a queer person can have towards the apparently socially acceptable view of not wanting us to exist and doing everything to make that a reality.

I came in expecting a basic trans-empowering trope reversal and was blown away by one of the most graphic, disturbing, and smartly executed survival stories I've read. It is so utterly human and holds a mirror up to Western society—its comfortable fascism and its white supremacy.

I'm not a huge fan of post-apocalyptic stories and the "zombie" genre is my least favorite (although those didn't start off being in the same bucket) but this was remarkably enthralling.

Just finished 'Manhunt' by @scumbelievable.bsky.social and I can't remember the last time I devoured a book that quickly or stayed up until 3:00 a.m. reading. Lol.

"30-year-old conservative lawyer and activist who is Trump’s nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, which deals with federal employee whistleblower complaints and discrimination" cancelled his colleague's hotel room so she would be forced to stay with him.
www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
In late July, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security, arrived at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando with a lower-ranking female colleague and others from their department. When the group reached the front desk, the woman learned she didn’t have a hotel room.

Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.

Soooo... this is how Canada treats people protesting Israel's arrest and detainment of the freedom flotilla.

I was detained for 10 hours and am now facing criminal charges. As such, I've been advised by a lawyer to not attempt to cross the US border for now.

I'll be working on an @gutterpopcomics.bsky.social-exclusive publication to make it up to anyone who was planning on coming tonight!

Like isn't that the only thing he's known for? Oh? He does movies? I never seen them.

How does a person just sit down and then write the worst possible post?

I couldn't post this badly if I had a week to workshop and polish it.

It's always comforting when otherwise unconnected shitty people align with each other; it confirms that my dislikes are calibrated correctly.

This thread is fantastic. You've only been there a few weeks? Wow!

Some things I've learned in my first few weeks:

1) There is a grey market candy swapping racket between janitors, TSA agents, CSRs, and everyone else who has to stand someplace all day at the airport.

Hi-chews, sour candies, and gummy anything are in highest demand.

9) People are, all things considered, pretty good.

I see twenty thousand people a day, and maybe two of them are assholes. Even on a stressful day, even in an unfamiliar environment, even hungry and tired and on a timer.

That's a *much* better ratio than folks realize.

they should offer a paid service at airports where it's just a guy that holds your hand the second you step in the door and guides you around and makes sure you get to the right gate on time. and they rub your back gently and comfortingly if you get yelled at by security for being confused

Ahhhhhh! That makes me want to cry! 💓😭 I'm not even sure my mom started reading mine yet. LOL. Tbh, she turned me on to horror as a kid, but in movies so I'm not sure if she's ever read a horror novel.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections
