Saw an article about delays in Grand Theft Auto VI... I bet Grand Theft Auto EMACS will be even later.

I remember years ago reading about conflicts between the Federales in Mexico and the municipal police, and I thought, "How could that happen?"

Feeling like I've just entered the 21st century. Got a printout from my fax machine confirming that it had sent something, because the LCD display is too faded to read the status messages.

If we're changing the Department of Defense to the Department of War, how long until the Department of Energy becomes the Department of Nukes?

For my DeFi entertainment I read @matt-levine.bsky.social 's MoneyStuff, and I thought that would keep me informed "enough". But TIL about the CLARITY act via a call from a (202) phone # from someone asking me to tell Congress to support the CLARITY bill so Americans could benefit from DeFi. ?!

Wow, something in the Big Beautiful Bill that, to me, has positive social implications? It's not going to last: www.espn.com/sports-betti...

I wonder if the Trump Phone is called "T1" because back in the day, that was a really high speed network connection. 1.544 Mbps!!

How many people here heard of the Posse Comitatus act because of a high school civics class? I'm drawing a blank on the name of my 9th grade teacher but really wishing more people had teachers like him.

This morning I had a little bit of leftover salmon which had been caught in British Columbia. I guess maybe I'll get some local fish next week?

Capitalism at work ... At my local farmer's market there are now lots of stands selling eggs in addition to their regular stuff. I guess the price has gotten high enough that we have increased small-scale production. It's our Great Leap Forward!

Deepseek-r1's chain of thought is fascinating to watch. This seems like a great leap forward ;-). I wonder if it's a consequence of training it on problems which lack ambiguity but it seems reluctant to just say, "Did you mean (a), if so then X else Y?" 1/

Adam Gray wins CA-13 flipping red to blue. Thanks @samwang.bsky.social for providing a tool which got me to get off my butt and walk precincts not too far from where I live for a national race.

WaPo's owner said no endorsing Pres. candidates, but this article ran above the fold. I thought this might have been some sort of compromise --no opinions, but at least they'll get to express some facts. But now the article has fallen off the homepage (except under "Most Read".) wapo.st/3A0mv36
How Trump talks: Abrupt shifts, profane insults, confusing sentences
The Republican presidential nominee calls it “the weave” and a sign of a brilliant mind, but his remarks at recent public appearances have been strikingly erratic and coarse.

1/3 Our LG dryer has been performing poorly, so for the first time in the nearly twenty years that we've had it, I cleaned the dryer vent yielding quite a haul. When checking that it was working properly afterwards I noticed an interesting logo.
