For my DeFi entertainment I read @matt-levine.bsky.social 's MoneyStuff, and I thought that would keep me informed "enough". But TIL about the CLARITY act via a call from a (202) phone # from someone asking me to tell Congress to support the CLARITY bill so Americans could benefit from DeFi. ?!

Capitalism at work ... At my local farmer's market there are now lots of stands selling eggs in addition to their regular stuff. I guess the price has gotten high enough that we have increased small-scale production. It's our Great Leap Forward!

Deepseek-r1's chain of thought is fascinating to watch. This seems like a great leap forward ;-). I wonder if it's a consequence of training it on problems which lack ambiguity but it seems reluctant to just say, "Did you mean (a), if so then X else Y?" 1/

1/3 Our LG dryer has been performing poorly, so for the first time in the nearly twenty years that we've had it, I cleaned the dryer vent yielding quite a haul. When checking that it was working properly afterwards I noticed an interesting logo.
