I would argue this turn started during Harper's time as PM. I would get so frustrated by the questions CBC failed to ask. I was a long time CBC radio listener. I can't now. Reporting is soft on the right-wing, as you point out, and the rest of the programming is increasingly vapid.

Hookstra doesn't speak Canadian English, apparently. We are taking this apprpach because we valued the relationship with the US. They chose to end the relationship.

It is a difficult situation and one that the Federal government cannot take on alone. We already have trade agreements with other nations. Our business community has been largely lazy and has not diversified their markets. Selling to the US has just been too easy.

I find it very concerning that a man who wants to be Prime Minister doesn't seem to understand even the most basic aspects of the job. He is not qualified.

Democracy is under fire here, too. All over Canada, provincial governments are making moves to limit citizens' rights. Just listen to Polievre's rhetoric that governmental actions are 'fake'. Sounds a lot like Trump. Polievre is cut from the same cloth. Stand firm amd vigilant folks!
