Every day's a school day ⬇️

We had the pleasure of working w/ Petri Suuronen #ISCG & Timo Vetriö in the lakes of #Finland.

Like Petri shares, "If you want to improve #FishingGear, first you need to know what’s going on."

And that’s what this is about.

Back from Finland 🇫🇮

Great few days up north with Petri Suoramaa, deploying SeaSensor and CatchCam as part of our ongoing trials.

Great to be working together on ways to see more, understand better, and make smarter decisions in the water.

Hands-on collaboration at its best! More to come soon.

Working with Snap Core & PSH/FloMo on smarter #FishingTechnology: live view of the codend, with the option to release unwanted #bycatch mid-tow.

Next step? #AI to ID species & sizes before the net comes up.

Out on the water in Largs, #Scotland ⬇️

This time, for a solid round of testing including acoustic trials, SeaSensor depth checks, and My Gear Tag deployments.

Fixing some things, breaking others, and learning a fair bit along the way.

“Fishermen are sceptical of ropeless fishing, and I was one of them”

Spent two days with Kim from Sustainable Seas Technology, testing ropeless gear in California.

We used CatchCam and SeaSensor to see what was really happening underwater. Spotted risks, made improvements, and learned a lot!

Installing a live camera for underwater monitoring⬇️

CatchCam was originally built for commercial fisheries, but it's now being used for #BiodiversityMonitoring & #MarineResearch.

From #Scotland to California — it’s a busy few weeks for us!

We’re just back from Largs after a solid round of #MarineTechnology testing, including acoustic trials, SeaSensor depth measurements, and MyGearTag deployments.

Now headed to the US for new partnerships and deployments!

Bycatch costs time, fuel, and #MarineLife.

Our underwater cameras and sensors give crews and scientists the #FisheriesData they need to cut #bycatch, fish smarter, and work more sustainably.

#Seagrass stores carbon 30x faster than rainforests but are disappearing fast.

#SeagrassBlue is farming seagrass offshore to restore meadows.

So, how do you monitor that? With #CatchCam, we're streaming live footage back to shore.

Underwater footage from the Igueldo, a #squid fishing vessel operating in the #FalklandIslands ⬇️

The 83-metre vessel integrated a #CatchCam camera with their sensor system to monitor catch behaviour inside the #fishing net.

Cameras and sensors can work together to improve #OceanData collection.

Underwater cameras like #CatchCam provide visual evidence on #MarineLife behaviour, while sensors measure environmental parameters.

This integrated approach offers a multi-dimensional view of the underwater environment.

Anyone up for a chat about #SustainableFisheries next week?

We're doing a webinar with #SAFET and here's some of the topics we'll cover:
🟡How 'on gear' techncan help reduce #bycatch
🟡#CatchCam latest deployments
🟡How AI can make #OceanData collection easier at sea

Tide conditions, seabed obstacles, vessel speed - all influence how well a net performs.

Aboard the FV Acionna, we used #CatchCam & #SeaSensor to better understand how these factors affect the #fishing operation.

Nov 2024 marked an important milestone: the cable deployment of our first camera to the hub station in Barcelona

- a BIG step towards real-time underwater monitoring!

Now, we're streaming live #OceanData from 2 biodiversity projects in Spain & cannot wait to share more updates soon.

Seine netting is one of the most cost-efficient #CommercialFishing methods—but even the best skippers are sometimes left wondering: what’s really happening underwater?

Onboard the 24m Scottish seiner Acionna, our #CatchCam camera was deployed to help us answer this.

For fishermen & #fisheries scientists across the UK, measuring key underwater conditions quickly and accurately is often seen as a complex task.

But what if it didn’t have to be?

In the @cgtn.bsky.social documentary below, we show how #SeaSensor easily collects #OceanData ⬇️
