Not necessarily horror, but this piece by Max Ernst, Murdering Airplane, always screwed me up, I'm not one to get visceral reactions often but when I first saw this I swear felt a genuine fear response, even now I can't look at it for too long. An excellent and absolutely dreadful painting.

Flamingo #lisathepainful #pixelart

The first text screen from the Doom 2 wad 'Auger Zenith', it reads: Everywhere you look is a portal to another world; The black mirrors of every screen are portals for cybernetic devils. The Augers prophesied this usurpation of civilization. You just didn't know it would be at the hands of powers most ancient. Your whole life you've never even seen the stars. The zenith of civilization brought to its knees by a technological barrier. That barrier has been broken.
