I love when you have a character’s image in your mind reading a book and the person who’s cast in the TV version fits your image. For me Tom Cullen is perfect as Michael in Trespasses, based on the brilliant book by @louisekennedy.bsky.social
Can’t wait to watch it.

I made bean stew for dinner last night. Keeping up with the culinary zeitgeist, that’s me.

Delighted with my latest signed book, by the incredibly knowledgeable expert on Irish stained glass, Dr David Caron. Image is a detail from a window in St Peter’s Church Phibsboro, which happens to be the nearest Harry Clarke to where I live.

Fun event today at Dublin Festival of history. Eight historians spoke for six minutes each about an object or document, which included an enamel chamber pot from a Dublin tenement, a menu from a 1958 wedding in the Shelbourne, a Bewley’s tea caddy and the oldest map of the city.

Netflix uses three words to describe each show. One of their words for Downton Abbey is ‘cerebral’. I love a Downton binge as much as the next woman, but ‘cerebral’ it is not! 🧐

Took a spin on the newly opened section of the Royal Canal Greenway that goes past Croke Park. Now you can cycle on a traffic-free route along the canal all the way from Blanchardstown, Ashtown, Cabra or Phibsboro to the city centre.

Finally got to see this brilliant documentary about photographer Martin Parr, which never got a cinema release in Ireland. It was shown on BBC4 recently and you can buy on Sky and presumably other streaming channels.

Today I popped into Phibsboro Library to see another one of Una’s paintings - she used to work there. Photo not great as the painting is high on the wall and behind glass, so lots of reflections. The Four Masters.
