Norms, common sense, and expectation of good faith aren't going to do in the future. Everything, everything is going to have to be carefully airtight law with painfully specific definitions. That's going to a pain but I don't see any alternatives.

Principle, but also wise self-protection. One "I'm a white man and PyCon rejected my talk" or "their Code of Conduct is woke" tweet, boosted by an influencer, could bring a catastrophic clawback of past NSF awards.

I'm a fanatic blood donor, but "give your forever chemicals to somebody else" feels a little less altruistic than I'd like! I guess it's "when it's the least of their concerns"...
