I watched the video twice again. Now I hear 3 cracking sounds that would be the gunshots. I am not a gun expert. When I first heard them in the video they sounded to me like he almost dropped the phone.

Looking at video footage that CNN has, it looks like her vehicle did bump him, but he had stepped in front of her vehicle from the other side of the vehicle.
