I’m trying to minimize paper and scan in all documents. My e-filing system is mostly based around family surnames. In each folder I have a folder for each person born with that surname. Other general information, like information about places is stored elsewhere (under places).

Yes! It surprised me to find out my grandpa Smith wasn’t my biological grandfather! Less shocking, but equally interesting, it confirmed multiple connections to other lines. Confirmed a 5th great grandfather and others.

My great grandma researched her (New England & NY for centuries) and her husband’s line born in Puerto Rico). My father researched his Norwegian mother’s line and his father’s English line. However, dad’s English father wasn’t his bio father. So I’m researching this Irishman.
