Trying to reread Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff, but so busy with holiday things I've hardly had a chance! Should get quieter today, looking forward to the chilling & reading part of the holidays.

Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie. First try at an audiobook so finding it a bit slow. Wonder if I should read in print sometime?

I used to make homemade pizza every weekend - always made sure I had the baking paper! I tried foil under something else once. BIG mistake.

6/ That all sounds a bit negative but I AM enjoying it. It helped that I have a good book, but probably should have chosen a faster paced one or one I’d read before for a first try. 🪐📚💙

5/ Listening for a long time made me sleepy! Usually when I’m into a book late at night, I’ll just keep reading one more chapter. And one more. And JUST once more… But this time I just went to bed! Weird.

4/ It seems a much longer process than reading. Guess reading is faster than listening which I’d never thought about before.

3/ It takes more concentration to listen than to read. I assume I usually take mini breaks while reading to think of other things? Which you can’t do while listening or you’ll miss something.

2/ I was surprisingly bothered by not knowing how to spell what I heard. I listened to the first 2 chapters before my eye surgery so had a chance to look up words online first which helped. OK, I am pedantic about spelling. Which will be no surprise to anyone in my family.

The Salt Oracle series looks interesting - how was the first one?

Oh no.... baking paper is a wonderful invention. And a sprinkle of polenta helps too.

Oh yes, I've seen that in Whitcoulls too! Probably should have said something really...

I didn't make a reading goal but just saw my stats on LibraryThing & astounded how many I read! It's been an excellent year for reading! 📚💙

Rereading Nevernight by Jay Kristoff since I enjoyed his Empire of the Vampire series so much!

I thought the same, then googled the synopsis instead. Definitely enough info!

Thanks for these, have read some of them before but due for a reread! And have been meaning to get to The Ancillary trilogy, sounds good

Will do - I'm mostly concerned my opinion of audiobooks in general will be massively influenced by the narrator.

Yes. And I love checking out other people's bookshelves!

I watched that and thought "The Raven Scholar! I loved that one!" and "I really should get The Shadow of the Gods, I've seen so many good reviews" and "Look at all the Brandon Sanderson books". Oh yeah, post was about gift ideas...

Oh, I just finished that one as well! Excellent book. I had some ideas about the ending but the extent of it surprised me! Decided to reread Nevernight now.

Yep, that's a good one! The sequels are really good too.

Me too! And I like the Empire of the Vampire series even more, definitely recommend.

Empire of the Dawn, last of the Empire of the Vampire series by Jay Kristoff, REALLY enjoying it. Hate to rush it really.
