Chasm with great history of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Narrow path between steep rock faces covered with multiple mosses and ferns. All possible in this microclimate. Brilliant greens against the stone.

Stunning walk in Lathkill Dale, Peak District. Sunshine, birdsong and butterflies.
Clear water burbling over stones in the valley. The river emerges near here. A few steps up from the path to find ruins of an old mill. Water was channelled up to run a 10m waterwheel. Stone sparkling in the sunlight, overgrown with ivy and brush. Catkins hanging from a tree with a small waterfall behind. The birdsong was special. The path wends between steep sided valley. Narrower here, the river disappears underground. Lush mosses cover boulders and tree trunks.

Fallen tree branch blanketed in bright green moss. Two cut ends are encircled with fungi. All lying on a carpet of fallen leaves.

Enjoyed walk in Peak District sunshine today. Mist in the valleys, fab views from the tops.
Blue sky contrasts with moorland horizon. Tors and stones emerge through bracken and heather Looking down the track to valley. Horizons open up into the far distance. Mist hangs low across the next valley. View across to torr in far distance. Brilliant winter sun makes the landscape sparkle. Big sky with winter sun lowering fast. Heather in foreground. Many valleys layered into the far distance.

Perfect day @yspsculpture.bsky.social So moved by Bharti Kher exhibition. Here’s a favourite permanent sculpture.
Sculpture set in grounds of hall overlooking sweeping landscape. The enormity and the grace juxtapose beautifully. Weathering has mellowed colours, the winter sun brings highlights and adds softness.

Canal path outing. Easy walking for ageing dog. #CromfordCanal

Lewis sharing more history today. Callanais stone circles I, II and III. Amazing broch. All between hail showers.
