As we enter the #NewYear, may we recommit ourselves to prayer, discernment, and faithful action – guided by the Holy Spirit – for the common good.

Let us pray. 🙏 4/5

Although the #JubileeYearofHope is ending, we are called to keep #hope alive through the constant conversion that occurs through living a life modeled on the Gospel, sustained by God’s merciful grace. 3/5

He says we're called not only “to reflect on what the Lord has done for us over the past year,” but also “to examine our consciences honestly,” asking forgiveness “for all the times we have failed to treasure his inspirations & invest the talents he has entrusted to us in the best possible way.” 2/5

THE ROAD TO BETHLEHEM: Day 9 of 10 🙏

We have accompanied Mary and Joseph with our prayerful imagination for eight days. Now they are in Bethlehem and have finally found a place to stay.... 1/7

...Make our lives a welcome for You, and a refuge for our neighbor – as their brother or sister, as You are to us. 🙏

Let us remain w/ the Holy Family at the manger, & ask for the grace to carry these virtues into the public square and into the ordinary duties of our days – quietly, faithfully, step by step.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, born for us in Bethlehem, form in us hope, humility, gratitude, joy, and love....
December 26, 2025 at 12:00 AM
...He is also the brother of those who look, pray, live, or love differently from us – those turned away, the lonely, the forgotten, the poor – and those we do not like. Yet we are one in our brother, Christ Jesus.
December 26, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Jesus will go by many names for us, but one that seems to be overlooked is brother. We are all children of God and reminded on this day that the Prince of Peace is our brother....
December 26, 2025 at 12:00 AM
The virtues that helped carry the Holy Family along the Road to Bethlehem are present to us on this day – hope, humility, gratitude, and love. But today we also witness peace and joy – the kind of peace and joy that are found in fullness through Christ Jesus.

All parents think their baby is the perfect baby. Mary and Joseph are no different – not only because of His divine nature, but because He is their baby.
December 26, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Our devotional imagination can spend a lifetime awakening to the meaning of the Incarnation. From humanity’s shared lived experience, we can try to imagine how Mary and Joseph may have felt. Yesterday, Mary was the God-bearer. Today, Mary is the mother of a baby boy named Jesus.
December 26, 2025 at 12:00 AM
In the night, Mary gives birth. Joseph comforts her and keeps watch. Heaven touches earth in silence. God does not arrive with spectacle, but with holy humility.

St. Augustine writes: “Awake, mankind! For your sake God has become man.”

THE ROAD TO BETHLEHEM: Day 8 of 10 🙏

We continue by bringing our devotional imagination to our prayer – and on this night the Holy Family needs our prayers. 1/8

Prayer: Holy Spirit, lead us to a place of covenantal love and humble acceptance where we can give thanks for what God wants for us, even if it is not what we yet want for ourselves. 🙏

Let us accompany the Holy Family not only on this holy night, but throughout the Christmas Season and the New Year, and imagine how the depth of such humble gratitude may bring us closer to God. 6/7
December 25, 2025 at 10:03 AM
Their gratitude, unlike the gratitude we are most familiar with, is not a result of receiving what they want but a result of moving forward on the path that God wants for them and not what they want for themselves. 5/7
December 25, 2025 at 10:03 AM
God’s plan is unfolding before them. What began with Mary’s “Yes” to the Angel Gabriel and Joseph’s “Yes” to a divinely inspired dream has now become their lived experience. 4/7
December 25, 2025 at 10:03 AM
They walk to the stable. Joseph prepares their straw bedding. They lie down with barnyard animals, yet experience a degree of comfort they have not felt in days. We can imagine that they pray in thanksgiving for the grace given them by God that safely led them from Nazareth to Bethlehem. 3/7
December 25, 2025 at 10:03 AM
...But they are not celebrating their arrival as a “journey-victory.” Without knowing what the future holds, they know that their journey is not over.

The joy of Christmas is near, but not yet revealed. This is a moment of gratitude – and humility. 2/7
