Aww I hope you do get into it. It’s honestly so rewarding. Ian my husband did a full tutorial on YouTube that’s free and easy to follow :)

And if you’re wondering this is an oil painting of a wormhole :) you just gotta love gravitational lensing

Can you help?… I’m trying to find my people

I know there’s more space fans here… just not sure how to reach you

Feels weird to ask, but would you give me a signal boost by hitting share?

If you’re new… Hi I’m Cat, I make pretty picture of space 🥹 let’s connect if you like weird space art
Woman standing next to large artwork on an easel. The painting is of a wormhole with gravitational lensing that shows stars and galaxies are warped around a central point.

It’s interesting but nature just forms in similar patterns. There’s a lot of nebula that look like eyes or brains and it’s just the beautiful mathematics of nature are playing itself out.

Processing Astro data is like artwork… eventually you develop your own personal style…

Mine is a bit like being punched the face by a rainbow. 😂

😂 look, Life can be incredibly stressful at times so it’s nice to have a pop of colour to bring a bit of joy to life.

Bumpdate - 27 weeks :) only 10 weeks to go 💕💕

Aww I’m so glad you like all the little details. 🥹
cathrinmachin.bsky.social
Yeah it may well do just that.

All the elements (outside of hydrogen) are made in the heart of stars and in these supernovae like explosions. These heavier elements can then form into protodisks which eventually compress into new planets… or so I’m told :)

And if you’re wondering what a 17” telescope looks like…

It’s this bloody monster haha

And yep, that’s a bed in the observatory so we slept under the stars 🥹

What you’re seeing here are different chemical elements

Red = hydrogen.
Blue = oxygen.

This is the Crescent Nebula, Ian & I took this photo with a 17” scope in the California’s desert for our February calendar image

No offence taken. Goes to prove most people’s starting attempts suck ass haha :) you just have to work through it

Yeah it’s like Twitter prioritises stuff that makes people miserable over stuff that brings people joy.

Nice to have this community for sure

This was 2016, proudly holding my first ever space painting…

I’d just left my job as a video game executive producer after having a huge nervous breakdown

It was the first time I felt like I was working on something that gave my life a sense of purpose.

Thank you. I was over the moon how it turned out after processing. :) Hope to shoot it with a bigger scope at some point. The lace like details are so cool up close

😅 **interaction not intersection…

Bluesky vs X…

So I shared the same post on my X account and even though I have 194k followers I had less intersection than here with only 5k followers.

Trying to share the beauty of the cosmos in a perpetual dumpster fire environment is tough!

Thanks to all at bluesky, you guys rock x

Behold the Eastern Veil Nebula, a haunting supernova remnant that lit up the skies over 10,000 years ago!

It took a month to capture using our little amateur telescope under the clear Texas skies.

This is also Decembers shot in my 2026 calendar (link in my bio)

About 46 ish hours in narrowband

Processed with pixinsight post processing in photoshop

The calendars launched yesterday :)

If you zoom in, you can see that each of the pages are perforated so you can continue to use the prints once the year is over :)

2026 calendar is live! Each page is perforated so you can separate each print to use after you’ve finished with the calendar!

Added the link in my bio if you’d like to see which astro photos we’ve included :) #astrohomy
