Grotesque profiteering at the expense of children, families & the public purse. There's a strong case for a windfall tax on profits from private residential providers.

Thr Government should just do this.
A radical, popular step that would transform millions of children & families' lives.

I met Hassan in Calais & he now lives in the UK due to the Dubs amend & is studying to be a mental health nurse. He fled the Sudanese genocide aged 12 when his mother & brother was murdered. He has become an important part of our family. As is the gorgeous Ukrainian young refugee who lives with us.

My sister-in-law Sophari was forced to the Killing Fields aged 10 by the Khmer Rouge. Her baby brothers died of starvation. Her 14 yr old sister was executed for taking a coconut. Her dad was also executed.
Sophari is lighting a candle at today's national Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony.

My dad Len fled Nazi Germany alone aged 13 in 1936, when his father sent him to England. Arrested on his 16th birthday, the British interned him in Canada as an ‘enemy alien’. His school championed Len’s cause & he was sent back to the UK. He died in 2022 aged 98.

Willy Lazar Auerbach was my dad's cousin. Willy was born 30/08/1919 in Germany, arrested in the Netherlands by the Nazis for being a Jew & sent to Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Austria. He was killed aged 21 years old

My paternal grandfather Jacob also had a brother Felix, who had a son Joachim Auerbach.
He came to Britain aged 11 as an unaccompanied child in 1939. He never saw his parents Felix & & Lisbeth Auerbach again. Both were murdered in 1942 in the Holocaust

Helene (my paternal grandfather, Jacob’s sister) & her husband David Reich were sent to the Warsaw Ghetto & then deported 6.9.1942 & murdered at Treblinka. They had 3 children. Son Alexander was shot in Ponlatowa labor camp nr Lublin on 4.11.43.

Bertha and Herman Joachimsthal, my great grandparents, were born in Germany, rounded up in Berlin and deported to Theresienstadt on 17 June 1943. Herman died there. Bertha was then deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered #HMD25

Isaak Wertheim, my great grandfather was rounded up into the Kassel ghetto in Germany by the Nazis and was deported to Theresienstadt on 7 Sept 1942 and then deported to Minsk where he was murdered
