This image illustrates the extent of the burned land from 2 January to 12 January 2025, as a result of the wildfire around the Pacific Palisades, one of the most destructive fires in California history.

A section of the largest photomosaic ever assembled from NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope observations, part of a panoramic view of the neighbouring Andromeda galaxy. The outer edges of the galaxy are blue, while the inner two-thirds is yellowish with a bright, central core. Dark, dusty filamentary clouds wrap around the outer half of the galaxy’s disk. At top left, a smaller dwarf elliptical galaxy forms a fuzzy, yellow blob.

A frame from a sequence of images taken by the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope observing curtains of interstellar gas and dust that have been heated by the explosion of a long-ago supernova, this 'light echo' is in the vicinity of the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A.

The central core of the second Ariane 6 to launch was transported from the launcher assembly building to the launch pad at Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana, on 13 January 2025. The central core includes the upper and core stages of the Ariane 6 rocket. Hiding underneath the purple protective covering is Ariane 6's main engine, Vulcain 2.1
